Nothing is sexier than an acrobatic female gun-for-hire dual-wielding custom Colt Pythons and carrying a sword. Sierra knows this, and that's probably why they've announced WET, an action game that follows the story of hired gun Rubi, who gets burned on a job and finds herself fighting for her life to find the man who betrayed her.
"The mix of guns, acrobatics and swords in the midst of non-stop action will undoubtedly ensure Rubi takes the title as the most exciting heroine ever in video games," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios, Sierra Entertainment. "WET is an exciting addition to Sierra Entertainment's original games portfolio."The game is being developed by A2M for release sometime in 2008 for next-gen consoles. With a concept and character this awesome, how can it possibly fail?

LOS ANGELES (August 22, 2007) - Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, today announced WET, a seamless integration of intense gunplay, death-defying acrobatics and exciting swordplay, framed by breathtaking art direction and unparalleled animation quality.
Developed by A2M, WET tells the story of Rubi, an acrobatic gun-for-hire. When she agrees to help a wealthy man find and bring back his wayward son, all hell breaks loose and the tables are turned, as the man who hired her isn't who he appeared to be. Now Rubi's on the run, needing to find the man who left her for dead and leaving a massive body count in her wake.
In an adventure that spans three continents; WET will keep the adrenaline pumping from start to finish.
"The mix of guns, acrobatics and swords in the midst of non-stop action will undoubtedly ensure Rubi takes the title as the most exciting heroine ever in video games," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios, Sierra Entertainment. "WET is an exciting addition to Sierra Entertainment's original games portfolio."
WET features include:
• Innovative 3rd person shooter gameplay: With her trusty twin custom made Colt Pythons, Rubi gracefully engages in amazing, cinematic high-body count gunplay against diverse and challenging enemies.
• Acrobatics: Along with her guns, Rubi has an arsenal of death-defying acrobatic moves. Her incredible agility allows her to climb on ledges, slide under obstacles, swing on poles and run along walls.
• Swordplay: Rubi's sword is an instrument for deadly close-quarter proximity attacks. Rubi will unleash a flurry of multi-staged stylized attack sequences.

See the way she's got her head tiled back at that exact angle?
That makes the image.
I didn't know it was possible to mash that many clichés together... huh.
HAHA! ... Woman May Cry!
in all seriousness, i do like me a mix of guns and swords. i just hope this isn't gonna be a rip-off of DMC....
and, back to non-seriousness, total hotness oh yeah... '_'
"for next-gen consoles"
Wait so this is coming out for the PS4, Xbox 1080?
"The mix of guns, acrobatics and swords in the midst of non-stop action will undoubtedly ensure Rubi takes the title as the most exciting heroine ever in video games,"
*cough* Ehm, Sierra? Bloodrayne already did that, and most people thought it was mediocre.
Now explain to me why this game is called WET...?
@King Louse: I agree.
Still, that title, even if intentional.
@Jesterhead369: Yeah, it sounds like nothing more than a Devil May Cry rip-off. I wonder what happens when you activate her Devil Trigger mode.
Why isn't this post titled "Post immature stupid comment here"? If it comes out for the Wii.....I'm not even going to visit this site for 2 years.
Why do I have a feeling that Next-Gen doesn't mean the Wii? =(
@DaFox: Exactly.. when will the PS3 and 360 become current gen?
@RocketFella: Yeah...
I think the teaser trailer for the game was god aweful...
When will the "next-gen" consoles start being called and considered the current-gen? *sigh*
So, it'll have "exciting swordplay", "the most exciting heroine ever in video games" and will be an "exciting addition to Sierra Entertainment's original games portfolio"?
I'm definitely excited!
She has a move called the 'taint splitter' :)
I've said this before on another forum but...Doesn't that look Criss Angel with a pair of tits...Disturbing...
First I would probably give more credit to the dev than the publisher, cause I don't care who owns the rights but who's REALLY making the game, in this case A2M, not Sierra. Secondly A2M and Wet in the same sentence is kind of funny and disgusting at the same time.
...am I the only one that is puzzling over the possible acronym that "A2M" stands for?
I blame Kevin Smith.
@cadekun: An inevitably damp squib?
Damnit. I was hopind she'd be wearing a white T-shirt, since the game is called WET. :P
oh yeah its SO a DMC rip-off. Even the trailer shows it to be.
Watching the trailer of "Wet" reminds me of the cover of the first EDGE I picked up. There was this manga guy with a sad face who held his NES light gun to his temple. The caption read "Bored to death of videogames?".
This game (though I don't doubt that it'll be fun if pulled of correctly) is like the essence of everything that's wrong with gaming nowadays.
For christ's sake! They put a sexy heroine in a generic 3td person action game called "Wet" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), show her lying naked in the bathtub, drinking beer and call her a strong and fresh character?
Oooohh, I'm pretty sure, there's a story reaso why the game is called wet. But I'm also pretty sure that they came up with the name and the chick first and then did some brainstorming on why to call the game that way..
How dare these imbeciles tell people, that the game has a strong and interesting storyline? It's cutting and shooting soldiers.
She's no strong character, she's just a girl the guys who make the game would like to screw.
Strong female lead? How about a single mom in her mid thirties with graying temples that's running from her abusive ex spouse?
That would be a strong female lead. Not "generic chick with tattoo sword and dual shotguns".
She's oh-so-vulnerable and deep, because she refuses to touch other people's weapons? That's the lamest story excuse for an in-game mechanic I've ever heard.
Give me back 80s videogaming. At least back then game creators didn't bother to cover the senseless killing with a storyline.
Sorry for ramblin, but it's really hot in here, the air's bad, I feel a headache coming and I'm in a really shitty mood.
Looks like the game name is kinda taken... by
something that fits the name more properly.
wet on my wii?
Do I have to pay extra for that?
@KRA1OS
I guess when the PS3 and 360 overtake the 'current gen' PS2 in sales.....
Reminds me of PN03 minus the swords. Let's hope it plays better too.
Too much clothing, not large enough breasts. Won't sell well, as relying on a somewhat explored genre alone isn't going to cut it. I know that's probably sexist, but let's face facts. Males are still the majority of gamers (particularly for "next-gen" systems) and these kinds of games do not typically appeal to most women. (Yes, I know there are exceptions. There always is.)
can anyone say KILL BILL!!!??!?!
Design by committee. We'll see how it works out for Halo 3, but it's usually not good, and this sounds like it could be resoundingly mediocre.
I'll take Octopus red head female with giant goddess of war sword over this...
Thanks for the offer, but no thanks.
Guns + swords + acrobatics = im happy.
Trailer looks pretty cool to me. Hopefully it will be just as good as DMC and NG.
tisk tisk... if only she was also a vampire
@little_dragon: You win this section! Congratz
I'm kind of diggin' the character design---and I like that she's wearing clothing. But why does everyone have to have double pistols? But the title? Eh.
Somehow reminds me of Kat Von D from LA Ink...
Little_Dragon there is only one flaw to your argument.....NO ONE wants to play a video game about a mid thirties women getting beat. That fact is that the game has potential.calling it Wet is the smartest thing ever. I dont think Ive ever heard as much banter going on about a game solely for its title. Its catchy, short and makes you wonder.
We will see what kind of game this turns out to be. Color me skeptical. I just want to comment on how good a piece of art that image is. Whomever created that image is a hell of an artist. WELL DONE!
Judging from the responses so far, I think this has GOTY written all over it.
Something tells me this is not the vision of a single person... but instead a carefully crafted IP that is trying to cater to a well polled and understood demographic. It's just so cliche and overdone that there is no way any person would come up with such... LAMENESS... in one IP.
@little_dragon: I think you just found out why its called Wet - she spends the entire game in the bath and its all told in flashback! As the game goes on more and more suds would disappear from the bathtub intro until they're all gone but she gets out puts a towel on and shoots the camera.
Cue sequel.
@zaky: Double the pistols means double the fun!
At least she doent look like a hooker. Though she does look like Keira Knightly from the movie Domino. Thats a plus.
This sounds woefully generic.
Kill Bill: The Game?
some screen shots would've been nice
Nice character; interesting attitude.
@RocketFella: "I didn't know it was possible to mash that many clichés together... huh."
At least she's not an amnesiac with hidden, world saving, powers that she didn't know she had.
Wow, a lead female character who isnt half naked!
looks like kill bill ripoff, with a palette swap
@little_dragon:
"how about a single mom in her mid thirties with graying temples that's running from her abusive ex spouse"
I dont know, your storyline sounds a little boring.
I mean, they could put a male lead with the same abilities and it still be generic, and also objectify men (hyper masculinity and so on). But we can't all make ground breaking video games with deep characters and involving storylines, sometimes they have to produce crap to make some quick income I guess...
At first glance I was wondering when Kat Von D got her own game then I read the description.
BINGO!
Was anyone else playing Cliche bingo?

Teaser Trailer, if anyone hasn't looked
@Kenoji: I admit, the whole thing might need some fleshing out..
@wontons: Why, did she get kicked out of another game and hard to move across the country to start work on this one?
@little_dragon: I think Quantic Dreams is touting some strong female roles for their upcoming Heavy Rain. Then again, you never really can tell this far ahead of time.
cool. dmc with cleavage. must buy for me.
I think that Rubi's just upset that she's only making 82 cents for every dollar that male hitmen make.
Wow, this will definitely be a game of subtle greatness. Naming it WET we pure genius. Now nobody will be able to figure out the real selling point of this game... Seriously.... who thinks of sex when they hear the word 'wet'?
This will be the game equivalent to Snakes on a Plane.
"Sierra Wants To Make You WET"
Is that wet: the adjective or wet: the verb?
You people are all crazy. WET is an awesome title. I've never heard so much buzz from a title alone. Its short catchy and makes you wonder whats going on with it. Interest is piqued from hearing the name alone.
@tremner: no it isn't
Devil May Cry: Vagina Edition ?
Sorry, I'm with the mass: this doesn't look interesting.
I could never be a PR guy because I could never have the gall or the straight face to call a game like this "original".
Right now I'll hold on before I completely dispel the game. It could have surprisingly good game play (doubt it, at best I would hold out for "solid" game play) and who knows, the story could be decent (now that I REALLY doubt, but I do give them credit for giving her more clothes than the average video game heroine).
Way too cliche to hold my interest but it's good enough to sell enough copies to probably justify it's cost to the producers. Soon enough it'll be lost along the way-side in video game history like so many others.
@DaFox:
Agreed. Enough with the "next gen" nomenclature. We're in the "Current Gen." And the "current gen" is not Xbox, PS2 and GameCube.
