Plastic? That's for wussies! Gold? Ha, whatever! Gundam is best in platinum. Measuring in at 125mm in length and weighing 1,400g, this platinum Gundam is made up of 89 parts has a .15 carat diamond buried in its noggin. A collaboration between Bandai and jeweler Ginza Tanaka, the statue is valued at US $250,000 and will be on display at the Basel World 2007 watch and jewelry trade fair in Basel, Switzerland. More bling than bang or boom!

Someone realllllllly likes Gundam!
OMG, that's some of that bandai crazy stuff, maan they always find how to amaze me xD
The minute the value of platinum goes up again, this thing will be melted down.
That's the Ver.Ka version of the RX-78-2 (as in the Hajime Katoki interpretation).
For this price I expect flashing eyes and sound effects too.
If you're going to give the value in American money, how about giving us the height and weight in American (er, Imperial) measures? Is it bigger than a Bratz doll?
@Clushje: That will require another $12.50! Muahahahaha!
Limited edition game releases are becoming more expensive and elaborately stupid. This could be released as a ultra, ultra limited edition package with a price of £500,000.
How about Halo 3 offering a Master Chief helmet made of Platinum and encrusted with pink and Canary Diamonds for £10,000,000.
Pointless, shit and stupid !
According to google, typing '1400 grams to pounds,' it is:
1,400 grams = 3.08647167 pounds
1 gram is also about the weight of a metal paperclip.
"Gundam is best in platinum"
Sorry Brian but you are so wrong.
Gundam is best in GUNDAMIUM!!!
man, that's ridiculous. A $250k Gundam that's not built on a 1/1 scale? What's the point?
Forgot the height. googling...
125 millimeters = 4.92125984 inches
@PTTSeven: Can you google the measurements of a Bratz doll too? Information is best when served upon a silver platter.

It says they're 10 inches tall@-

And what does this accompish exactly?
How many Catalytic Converters died to bring us this statue?
"Gundam is best in GUNDAMIUM!!!"
A sure sign of a post-Wing-era fan. RX-78 Gundam was made of Luna Titanium alloy. Later UC mobile suits (starting with the AEUG Rick Dias I believe) were made of Gundarium alloy, an advanced version of Luna Titanium.

The more you know...
um.......
.........
uhh......
ya........
like totally wtfbbq.....platinum Gundam?!?
frak......should have been a new gen cylon if anything. Now that would be worth of a platinum finish......
Boring... Let me know when the start making platinum Autobots.
ok I see the platinum grill on it but where are the spinners? :D
@shoanmitch:
That instep and heel component.
I'd rather have the $100 Wing Custom that actually WORKS. :p
OMG I think you are right I do see Spinners at the feet LOL.
Imagine how heavy it is. I love the weight of Platinum.
@EmeraldDragon:
No, I think the question is: What doesn't it accomplish?
I have this urge to prime it with gesso and then paint over it.
As if Bandai needed to make another version of the RX-78-2.
BLING BANG!
Call me when they make full scale Gundams out of Gundanium
What a great way to spend money developers. Man those development costs ever increasing, they could only afford a $250K piece of useless junk.
So uh, what's the point of the diamond inside of it anyway? Just to raise the pricing? It's kind of silly for anyone to buy this, especially since you probably can't see the diamond you payed for.
One man's useless junk is another man's FREAKING AWESOME PLATINUM GUNDAM MODEL THAT I WOULD SO BUY IF I HAD 250,000 DOLLARS TO SPARE.
You could buy the starship enterprise for that kind of money. The big one, with power supply. TNG one as well.
how you kno the diamond is in there?
