It's interesting to see the Guild Wars business model start shaking out. As you know, NCSoft are planning to release about two Guild Wars expansions a year for the next year. But the latest word is that NCSoft is also going to start giving hardcore players the option of paying for more character slots.
Players who have used up all four character slots from the original and the two additional slots for the upcoming Factions will be able to purchase additional slots for alts at the price of of GBP 5.99, EUR 8.99 or USD 9.99, depending on which Mickey Mouse currency you use to stuff into belly dancer's g-strings.
We suspect that this will only really appeal to the hardcore, but we've begun to wonder if Guild Wars will start heading more and more in the direction of Korean MMOs as time goes on, where additional content like areas to explore or items to wear can all be purchased.
