New Xbox 360 Controller Pic Out?

Gaming Horizon is hosting a picture of what they claim to be the new Xbox 360 controller. The diminutive, white controller looks to be a wee bit smaller and more angular than the classic Xbox creation. I'm assuming that this is some early build, especially since it is a glossy white and has no logo. More »

    Xbox 360 Not Backwards Compatible...Again?

The rumor mill keeps on churning as E3 approaches. The latest is that the on-again, off-again backward compatibility of the Xbox 360 is off again. My sources tell me that the most recent rumors swirling around the 360 is that it probably won t have the capability to play original Xbox games. Even more perplexing is the tidbit that Microsoft apparently hasn t really made up its mind on this point. More »

Xbox 360 Will First Be Unveiled in Japan

It looks like the Xbox 360 will be making its first non-prerecorded appearance in Japan, days before Microsoft s pre-E3 show. On May 13, the same day that the US and Japan will be checking out an MTV special on the Xbox 360, the Japanese press will be at an unveiling of the system in the Virgin Cinemasa in Roppongi Hills. The invite-only press event, given the humdrum title of Next Generation Xbox Preview, will start with a live viewing of the MTV special in Japan and conclude with about two hours of...other stuff. It s unclear exactly what Microsoft has in store for the lucky attendees, but I m assuming it s not just free Xbox-shaped sushi. More »

MCVG has word that Microsoft is trying for a near simultaneous launch of the Xbox 2 in North America and Europe. The console is expected by late October or early November in the United States and should arrive in Europe within weeks of the U.S. launch. Wow, that's a first. Xbox 2 Countdown Starts

The countdown to next-gen is on. Despite no mention of the Xbox 2 at CES, most people are confident that it will be in homes by Christmas. Analyst Tony Gikas believes there will be several versions and that they will sell for $300 to $400 at launch. That s a bit pricey, but keep in mind that we are talking about a console that will likely include networking and more multimedia functions. Unfortunately, it looks like the games for the Xbox 2 will also be more expensive, coming in at $5 to $10 more than the high prices we are already paying. More »

    Xbox 2 won't make CES?

Some development friends of mine are hearing that the Xbox 2 won t make a Consumer Electronics Show premier after all. Despite rumors that Gates will unveil the next-gen Xbox during his keynote at the annual show, the latest gossip is that the unveiling is more likely to come at the Game Developers Conference in March. I doubt this will have any real impact on the Xbox 2 s launch, it just gives Microsoft more time to come up with a hot d but. I have a call in to the Xbox people, but no word yet. More »
