According to a rumor scooped by the Detroit Free Press of all places, the Massively Multiplayer Game sector of the games industry has about four weeks to live before World of Warcraft is released and relegates the other MMGs to the poor house.
Of course, this also means that Blizzard has four more weeks to finish up the game. MMGs have a dishonored tradition of being released before they're actually ready, leaving many players on launch days wondering why they can't connect, why the game keeps crashing, why they do a quest and then nothing happens, or whatnot.
While WoW was more complete in these regards months ago compared to any other MMG I've ever tried, there are still some portions of the game that are missing. Only some classes have their "talents" options put in, a means by which you can add bonus effects to the skills of your character, specializing in some aspects over the others. And as of yet, there is no reward for killing players of the opposing faction (your character either belongs to the orcs, trolls, undead, and tauren of the Horde, or the humans et al. of the Alliance). Well, no reward other than knowing that you just ticked off someone halfway across the country.
