Sony hopes to soon launch a series of free hot spots that would allow PSP gamers to log in and play via WiFi. In return for the free time online, you would just have to put up with some advertising, either during a load screen or in-game, according to John Smedley president of Sony Online Entertainment.

Smedley also says that the company is in the process of developing a new action massively multiplayer online game that will use more modern weapons than swords and magic. Although Smedley says he's a big fan of strategy games, he wouldn't say if that would play a role in the still unannounced game.
