Howdy! It's Brian A. from Kotaku Japan checking in. News sites here are abuzz with the latest flying through the rumor mill. A writer at Famitsu, the country's premiere game mag, says that the PS3's HDD won't be internal and sold as a peripheral to be attached to a 2.5 inch slot on the console. Guess that's the wack boomerang looking thingy that some have referred to as a controller.
Sony has yet to make an official announcement so don't hold yer breath.
