• GO3: The Showroom Floor

While the GO3 Conference was taking place on Friday and Saturday (ie the talks by Kojima, Suda, Miz, etc), on Saturday and Sunday the public could rock up for the GO3 Expo, a massive showroom floor with game demos, trailers and exhibitor stalls.

It sounded great on paper, but in the flesh, it was dripping in the weakest of sauces. The venue was too big, the crowds too small and the number, and relevance, of games on-show was rubbish. Only Sierra's World in Conflict stall gave people the chance to test out a major, unreleased game; every other stand/booth was showing games that had been out for months, and in some cases, years (PGR3, I'm looking at you). Plus, you know...neither Sony nor Nintendo bothered showing up. That didn't help.

Which would have been fine for a small, Perth-only show. But this thing was billed as Australia's crack at a regional E3, so seeing such a shitty lineup of games (which, after all, is why the people came) was a big disappointment. Ah well. Some kids had a blast (the cosplayers, the LAN party), but for most, it was a BUST. Pics below.
