I just got done chatting with Gears producer Rod Fergusson. Lovely fellow, exquisite beard. Anyways, I'll post the interview in its entirety later, but for now, some highlights:

• The Gears movie is going to be a little different to the Halo one. Instead of bundling the rights with a ton of conditions, they made sure it was going to someone who would do the franchise justice: Stuart Beattie has played through the game so many times it would make your head spin.
• There's an announcement on a "certain Epic title" and its future downloadable content coming "very soon."
• The Brumak. It breaks Rod's heart that it didn't make it into the final game.
• Lessons have been learned regarding Gears' plot. Expect future games to be a little clearer about what's going on.
• Mark Rein is a lot like Simon Cowell.
