Digipen Student Games Available

DigiPen Insitute of Technology (located in Redmond, Washington) has released most of the games their students have created throughout the academic year. Only a few are available now to download onto your computer, but more of them will be available by the end of the month. An awesome, super-fun way to make your Friday is to read the game descriptions on the list of projects page. Two of my favorites were:

PaperCuts is a 3D flight simulator using paper airplanes. It's a fast-paced air combat game, with roots in actual physics but eschewing complicated simulation for a more arcade-like, quick-paced gaming experience. Players control jet-like paper airplanes, fighting against cunning computer-controlled opponents in a battle for air superiority. A quick play skirmish mode is available for a fast game of varying length.

Gigoon is a 3D, third-person action game in which the player takes control of a giant monster rampaging through the tropical city of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Using the very buildings around you as weapons, you must go up against the local military by smashing tanks, swatting planes, sinking ships, and causing havoc throughout the city along the way.

Gigoon! What a great name. It reminds how much I love words that sound exactly how they mean, like "shittles" or "beige".
