The Get-Well Gamers Foundation is a California charity that, similar to Penny Arcade's Child's Play drive, provides games and consoles to children facing long-term hospitalization. From the press release:
Our next step is to see to it that we have the product donations to support our new increased capacity. At the moment, we have nowhere near what is required, but given our track record of success, we are confident that someone will answer the call. With the holidays fast approaching, however, it is crucial that we receive donations as soon as possible.
Jackasses would like you to forget that video games are a proven pain-management tool that are being used in therapy for all kinds of conditions. If you have owned more than one generation of game machine, you probably have some old consoles or carts hanging around that you could do without. Sending them to Get-Well Gamers is a good way to unclutter and score some good karma all at the same time.
Keep your classics, as they're only accepting gear from 1989 and later. A list of hospitals, FAQs, and donation locations is available on the Get-Well Gamers website.
