GelTabz Thumbs-On Review

GelTabz sent me three packs of their Thumb Pad replacement kits, one each for the Xbox PS2 and Xbox 360.
The idea behind the gel filled pads is to cut down on sore thumbs and blisters.

I've personally never had a problem with getting blisters on my thumbs from overplaying, and I play a ton, but I do occasionally get a little soreness in the tendons leading to my thumb.

I also have noticed that the thumbpad for my Mad Catz Xbox controller is really worn down. The GelTabz are very easy to use, for the Xbox and Xbox 360 you just slip them over the top of the joystick and for the PS2 you have to remove the existing rubber pad first.

I tested the tabs out on my Xbox controller and like the feel of them, though I don't know if they will make marathon gaming sessions any easier. They have a nice spongy feel and are topped with tiny rubber nubs that make grip a little better for your thumb.

They are also fairly nice looking, so I'd recommend them for replacement pads for any worn controllers you might have. They only run $5.99 a pack, so not much risk either. The jury's still out on long-time use and saving wear and tear on your thumb.
