The Invader Scarf would have a place in our hearts if it were just a scarf that celebrated Space Invaders. But it does one better, combining the talents of pixel knitwear designer Office Lendorff and mobile specialist Kaywa, and fulfilling all of our geek urges in one. Each of these 500 limited edition scarves have QR-Codes at the bottom. When photographed with certain mobile phones (generally the type too cool to hit US shores), they reveal a secret message...and it sounds like many of the messages are different. So no, we have no clue what those little blocks say. But if you pony up $66 for one of these scarves, be sure to hit up our tips line.

ZOMG teh sexeh
Personally, I would prefer it without the giant QR-Code on it.
Nice scarf. Is it worth £30? It better be hella' soft!
Got it, the QR-code says "insert coin for extra life"
My code: You just wasted 66 bucks.
that is too cool, and too unnessesary all at once! too bad i dont have 66 bucks to waste!
That is so unnecessary.
And yet it is so necessary.
It says "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."
@creid: A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!"
Just in time, haha!
@Amsterdaam: Damn it I was just about to say that. You win this round. LOL that reminds me i have to find my DVD copy of A christmas story.
@creid: you beat me to it too! :)
That model has laser eyes! At least according to the website.
@Phanman: I sat looking at the website trying to figure out what you possible have been talking about. And then I shat myself in surprise.
@IntelSilver: If only I had looked on the comments before taking 20 minutes of messing with diferent photos of the scarf to figure out what it says... yay for QR codes
Secret message? I thought that was a cellphone URL that you take a picture of with the camera on your phone... Maybe they have secret message ones, too, but all the ones I've ever seen are for websites on your keitai...
@IntelSilver: There is also a QR-Code on the back that says "Game over!
@hatsumi:
They can hold anything that can be digitized. The one readable one on the site says "Hi Boss".
usually they're URLs, but I've seen a lot of them on business cards with your contact info on them. (think put someones name phone number and address in your phone in about 2 seconds, vs.....)
I've also seen resumes, chat icons, ring tones and images of other QR codes directly encoded in them.
@Cathaoir: Good things always come to those who are patient. I was just messing around myself when I saw it.
...
But forget about paying $70USD for a wearable barcode if I don't get to choose what is says.
@Zadaz:
Ah nifty. Didn't know that. To me that just makes it cooler...lol. I'm easily amused, I guess.
There's a fine line between useful and gimmicky, but I think this is on the useful side. I wonder if the US will ever adopt this technology...
Neat idea...
Does anyone have it in Semacode?
Better yet, does anyone have a Windows webcam reader for either code? My cel phone isn't exactly cutting edge DoCoMo chic...
I prefer the ones we had here last year. Better design, lower price and not a year late. :-)
