While LittleBigPlanet really doesn't need to convince me any further that it will be orgasmically fun, those of you who haven't seen the editor in action and remain on the fence ought to settle down with this clip for a few minutes. The power of LittleBigPlanet compels you!

SHAZBOT! thats nice...
This completes me.
Holy crap that looks awesome. The more I see of this game, the more I must have it
Wow.. Props to Sony for Home, and this. I'm glad to see they've stepped up and are back in this thing.
Controlling lil turds that look like Super Dave!! Yaaay!!
I had NO interest in PS3 until now... I thought Wii would be my only console but between this and Fable 2 I may need to start saving up money...
I bought Rag Doll Kung Fu (Healey's prior game) and it was very fun. I have absolute faith that this will be a ridiculously good time of a game.
Needs enemies, otherwise it looks like it'll get boring fast
Ok. What's wrong with me? I just don't understand the point of this "game". Someone please help. I seem to be the only one.
Wow this looks REALLY fun. I rarely say this but- I am wholeheartedly looking forward to more vids of this game in action.
NICE!!! This is kind of game that we can spend a wholle day, play with friends and not get bored. I really loved how you can gesticulate with the little guys. It looks REALLY fun! :)
Ok. I didn't hate on Sony too much other then the crap PR, but this, I'm sold.
errr...im not impressed ...whats the big deal about this here game ?
It does look like a huge amount of mindless fun, and I can see some really fun puzzles, or just messing around with friends, but it does raise some concerns.
1. Size. How big can these "levels" be? Will they be persistant at all? Can you save, load, download, upload them?
2. Challenge. I see plenty of challenges in creating the world, and building the platform riddles and just messing around, but are there any besides that? Enemies, holes, etc.. can I recreate the levels from Mario 64, or at least, Super Mario Brothers?
The game looks fantastic as far as graphics and smoothness, and really interesting as far as what I've seen.
I may get hooked on it at some point but with other competition I fear this may be a forgotten tech demo.
Wii is supposed to be the only system for innovation. Song and Microsoft are supposed to produce a bunch of different first and third person shooters. Man.. this looks amazing.. but it's still not $600 amazing :(
I have to agree with some others here. What is the point to this game?
From a previous demo we saw 4 characters traversing the landscape to get from Start to Finish but there where no interactive elements aside from what you could jump on and grab - all of which have no adverse reaction. There is no risk to playing this game which is something that all games use to motivate the player (even something as simple as nintendogs - you have to look after your pet otherwise it will die)
I agree the graphics are visually stunning but how many 'landscapes' do you see yourself creating with this game before you get bored? Also, how much do you think this game is going to cost?
To fully enjoy this game they are going to have to introduce more elements aside from the 'SimCity' style it currently has.
Hey, this isn't the only attempt at a game creating games, look at Mario vs Donkey Kong March of the minis. It has a level editor (okay not graphically as attractive as LittleBigWorld) but I don't even think it's something I would bother with more than once or twice and would probably be more inclined to download other peoples maps if I feel I want to play another game.
I'm still not convinced that I want a PS3.
I can see how this would really appeal to certain people, akin to Line Rider. But somehow I don't see the "casual" gamer spending several hours creating their own Rube Goldberg masterpiece.
I think that is a huge step in the right direction for PS3. It looked visually great, the controls seemed pretty good, the physics were top notch, and I think it does a good job of stealing some of Nintendo's innovative thunder.
this is the single most impressive thing i've seen for the ps3 thusfar.
if you can create your own enemies and save your levels, i think i might be sold (when the ps3 becomes affordable, i mean).
can you imagine making a zombie themed level and creating all kinds of gametypes and worlds and ACK!... nerdgasm.
As long as they don't charge for downloading community created levels, I'm sold.
I'm still on the fence about purchasing a PS3.
This game goes a long way toward getting me off the fence.
I'm still not going to pay 600 for it, but I accept that if this software and more compelling software like it are released consistently, I'll have no choice.
On the negative side, 'littlebigworld' and 'home' both have the potential to get ridiculous with micro-transactions and in-game advertising.
THIS is next gen. Up till now I had seen nothing on the PS3 that remotely qualified as "next-gen", but this is it. Some of the best graphics I have ever seen, and complete interactivity and linking with all other aspects of the PS3. Add in full online modes, like co-op and map sharing, and this is a system seller. No, this is a fucking Wii killer.
And don't take this as rantings of a Sony fanboy either, up till now I was about as anti-Sony as you can get. You can pretty much take this raving to the motherfucking bank.
@Narsil: Not to kill your buzz, guy, but "Wii killer" is a bit much. It's a pretty neat platformer editor, but I just don't see it selling consoles to the masses quite the same way as your Halos, Zeldas and Metal Gears.
Here's hoping for an awesome LBP community, though. It's what will really make this cool toy into a classic title.
Wow. Anyone else thinking of The Incredible Machine? This is really, really awesome and the only thing that's ever given me PS3 envy.
I dunno. It certainly looks amazing and fun, but I've always sucked at making levels... like in Mega Man: Powered Up.
If I do get a PS3, I'd only get this game if the creators planned on making levels periodically and whatnot. Otherwise it'll be a bunch of user-created crap.
So I think I'm getting a PS3 now.
Great idea, love the game, but they are getting way too much credit for this. It's just an in-game, easy to use, amateaur mod kit.
Additional note: Some of you are treating this game like a built in feature as if it compliments the Home interface, and you are giving Sony the credit for the game. You could at least give the developers their credit and acknowledge this is a stand alone retail game.

since sony is funding, publishing and buying them an insane amount of coverageat events like this, i would say that the developers and sony both deserve a bit of credit here. without sony, some great quirky or novel games like ico, katamari damacy, parappa the rapper, loco roco etc, would have have never seen the light of day in the EA/ Ubisoft dominated game industry.

If it's so easy to use and amateurish, why hasn't anyone done it before? These guys deserve all the credit they can get. The game looks incredible, the level editor looks simple yet robust, and its all built around an experience you share with your friends.
I don't think it is the second comning, but it looks really fun and interesting. This Video is better than the first one I watched.
People seem to be overracting to good news, because there has been such a drought. I don't see the "killer ap" here. This is basically "modding lite" for console gamers.
This is good, about $300 good, so their getting there. Add in a couple of co-op RPG's and FPS and ill take out another car loan for it.
What people don't realize is that this doesn't NEED to be a Wii killer, or a anything killer. Sony is proving quite well at this point that the PS3 will have an incredible library of games and features of every sort.
I, for one, am thrilled about this game. Parts of the other video had me giggling like a school-girl. This coming from someone who spent 11 hours on line rider in one sitting, but hey. I'm sold. I feel a whole lot better about my PS3 now.
This is good, about $300 good
That's just what I was thinking. A few more sweet games like this, a lower price point, and I am sold.
I'd buy a PS3 if there were game development tools like that, that ran on the actual console. like an Unreal Editor 3, only with everything running in realtime... that thing makes Hammer and Radient look like arcane garbage
who's compiling a .bsp now ?
Wow it's like GDC made Sony decide they need to push the unsuck button and start giving people a reason other than "We're Sony! MGS! FF!" to buy their console.
Maybe someone said in one of the other posts, but this seems one hell of a lot like a next-gen LocoRoco, in a good way. LocoRoco had a level editor and "house", but both features were seriously lacking, unlike in this game.
I have always intended to buy a PS3 eventually, this game will make it happen sooner.
Gamespot got the full clip of Sony's GDC keynote. It shows the later part of the Gametrailer clip when the character can bitchslap the other character and you can take snapshot while riding on top of skateboard.
It's crazy, and I love it!!
@pushmonk: Nope, I can promise you, you aren't the only one not "getting it." Though others have already said the same.
There are going to be people who totally love this game and swear by it, and there are going to be people who really couldn't care less. I'm distinctly in the latter category. Watching the players romp around in a predesigned world didn't look bad, but this clip bored me to tears. I had to force myself to finish viewing it.
I hate to say this, but anything this open-ended also leaves the potential for visual design abuse just hanging there. Expect to see plenty of phallic-themed worlds, etc.
oh goodness I want to play this game so bad... but now.. I'd love it if we could get this in a full game platformer...
I have to buy either a 360 or a PS3 this summer in preparation for GTA IV. I was leaning towards the 360...but not anymore.
@AvocadoOverboard
Coming from a non-FPS fan, I can say that there is already one great co-op FPS out there.. Resistance. My roommate and I usually don't play many FPS, although we do enjoy some shooter games, mainly the scary themed games (read: Resident Evil, Silent Hill). But Resistance has been great, we've played through the game twice co-op, and are anxiously waiting to see if the upcoming additional content will push us for a third run-through.
Back onto the subject... This game looks fun, I'm not sure if it will hold that appeal after I've bought it and wasted a couple weeks of my life on it (I agree that a lack of enemies may take my interest away), but I will definately be trying it as soon as I can get my dirty lil fingers on a copy. Usually I don't even attempt to build my own levels in games, but this actually looks like something I might want to try... and the fact that you can build a level co-op is definately a plus!
Wow. I wish I had a PS3.
Seems like I might get the urge to buy a 3rd next-gen console in the near future.
I watched this on mute - so I completely fail to understand why this game is so interesting. That PR rep must be one hell of a talker to suddenly make everyone act like this is the second coming of Jesus.
Try not to trample each other while running after that PS3 bandwagon.
Yummy...
When games go down they come out brown!
I just watched the entire keynote on gamespot(thanks HobbaHobba) and all I can say is sweet. I've always had what could possibly be called blind faith that the PS3 would deliver games and content on par with what the PS2 provided when it was new. It certainly took awhile, but with what I just saw I think it's finally happening. With the games coming in the near future plus apps like these, I am seriously excited to own a PS3.
This looks really nice. I'm really impressed... I can almost forgive SONY for ditching the emotion engine in PAL land. I want a ps3!!!
I await the world's first goatse'ing in Little Big World... It's a pity, but "user-generated content" immediately means "shock images ahoy!" in this day and age.
*adds to PS3 game wishlist*
C'moooooon, price drop.
I wish you could add enemies and maybe some simple programmable A.I (really simple, like "see player, shoot snot ball"). THEN I'd drop the $600 easy just for this game.
As of right now it's like playing in an empty level, void of enemies or intellegence. Think about walking through a Gears or Half-life 2 level with no enemies. Sure it looks good, but I do need a challenge somewhere. MAKING the levels seems like the only draw right now... not playing them.
I am amused at how many people online are saying "I was thinking about a 360 or PS3, but this physics demo has convinced me!!!" It's disturbingly sycophantic and seems completely insincere. Unless you're 12 years old and giggle at the sight of anything with big eyes and a wet nose, this isn't a title that will wrestle $600 from you wallet. I'd really love to see some serious analysis of what Sony's current position in the market is, it does after all affect everyone no matter what console they own, but instead we get spikes of criticism followed by spikes of fawning slobber with no long term analysis at all. How about a discussion on how 'Home' is rather blatant theft from multiple sources, just for example? I think that would be more interesting, but like others have said, I'm definitely not in the majority that are excited for this title.
I might have missed an article but can someone tell me what you do in this game? I see stuff being made to interact with that uses real world physics but what is the point, is there a story or goal?
