These Bosses are awesome. With Solid Snake being such a bad ass and having so much skill in battle these Bosses are the only ones who can kill him. Oh yeah except FOXDIE, and a bad back.

@vindicated: The designs are definitely stylized in the vein of ZOE. Decoy Octopus was ill. Died too quick a death in MGS1. The new Octopus enemy design is fresh. Makes me hungry for some takoyaki.

Has anyone noticed anything about the names and appearances of these bosses? Laughing Octopus, Raging Raven, Howling Wolf and Screaming Mantis? Mantis , Wolf and raven appeared in MGS 1 right? And is Octopus anything to do with Solidus? Could Liquid Ocelot have brought them back but in mecha style?

@sora000111: correction Decoy Octopus was in MGS1 (SPOILER he was impersonating darpa chief)

The other MGS games had plenty of color in them. Why does this one have to be what is practically black and white? Oh well, still looking forward to it - greatly!

@sora000111: I think "Octopus" actually makes reference to Decoy Octopus, also an enemy from MGS, but not exactly a "boss" as you don't fight him.

About the names, I also see references to bosses from MGS3:

Raging = The Fury
Screaming = The Pain
Laughing = The Joy
Crying = The Sorrow

Of course they look similar to ZOE designs.. Yoji Shinkawa does most of the work for both series.

And do I ever like these new gals.

I couldn't turn down a Used 60GB PS3 for $400, so looking like I'm getting on the MGS4 Hype-Train with my newly purchased PS3.

Only drawback is all the good games for PS3 I already own on 360 besides Resistance :(

But, 2008 will be nice.

Used ps3 prices are dropping to chump change, it's a crime to pass up MGO, I'll rent MGS4, still skeptical and expecting a retelling of a retold story.

@TheIrishNinja: You'll love it mate. Fast paced mech combat, smart enemies, sweet weapons and two AWESOME set pieces. It's what all Gundam games should be. Only big problem is the camera, but even that's not much worse than DMC or Ninja Gaiden

@3xch4ng3: Welcome to the PS3 brigade. I gripped my for free from my 360 loving father that got the 20GB PS3 for $350. Awesome indeed. Yes...I eagerly await the MGS goodness in 2008 but to be quite honest. I'm glad it's not coming out this year. I have far too much to play this year as is...

The camera issue is more or less solved once you get the Zero Shift ability.

I got that ability, I don't remember using much else. Maybe the traction whip, just because it was fun to grab an enemy and toss him into a wall.

Oh, and the Vector Cannon. Because, well, it's the fucking VECTOR CANNON. Nothing like blowing a small hole in the world.

@TheIrishNinja: You unbelievable bastard, You haven't played ZOE2? If you thought I beat you up for not having played Okami or Shadow of the Colossus you should know - there's more coming.

@PapaBear434: I know, that gun is fucking EPIC. You know that big battle just before you get zero shift? Good timing+Vector Cannon=A corridor of the battlefield devoid of any enemies. Good fucking times. As for the other subweapons, I just finished replaying the game and I actually used the vast majority of them. I used the geyser and the gauntlet in the narrow canyons of Vascillia, then I upgraded to the wisp and then it was pretty much just the wisp and the gauntlet until I got the homing missiles and decoy. Oh, and I used the Mummyhead for health. Zero shift is SO awesome. Zero shift+close range burst attack=Win. Doing a lot of that at the moment. Weird

Oh god, I love ZOE 2. That was one helluva game. It's sort of like a culmination of everything that makes make anime so titillating and exciting.

OH,i just noticed that one of the marionettes that mantis is carrying is a little Psycho Mantis puppet.
i love the cool little things like that.
