Will this convince you to buy a Wii Zapper? Maybe. But if you were already planning on getting one anyway, would this sweeten the deal? Why certainly. For a pack-in, on-rails shooter it doesn't look too bad. Looks a lot more appealing than what it's being packed-in with, anyways..

That actually looks like some fun shit! :D
Yay! Yet more accessories to buy.
Since when was B green?
You know what pisses me off?
I am no graphics whore, but look at those textures! The lighting! This is what Twilight Princess for the Wii SHOULD have looked like!
O_O
Shooting Gorgon nads I see.
For 20 dollars, I don't see how anyone can serious bitch about this, but this being a Nintendo related post, there will be much bitching, from the endless crying over the Zapper shell, to the anti mini games people to the "Where's a real game?" trolls.
I'll be getting it. 20 bucks? Come on now.
Rated M for Mature.
I still have no clue when this will be out in Europe...
@SidepocketPro:
That IS what TP looked like...
Ooh, desert sand looks nice.
I'll wait and see what the other Zapper games are like before I pay up for the shell. Ghost Squad is nostalgic, but RE:UC doesn't appeal to me at the moment.
@SidepocketPro: my thought exactly. I guess that's what you get with a launch title though - the graphics are never as good as they are with later games. Oh well, maybe they'll release Twilight Princess: The Non-Sucky Edition at some point.
I seriously dont see the difference. You guys are some nitpicky bastiches.
20$ for a game that comes with a periphiral? Sounds ok to me!
Especially since I plan on buying RE UC anyway... but I allready played Ghost Squad to dead in the local arcade so I will most likely skip this one.
@Sixtail: Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. there's people bitching about everything! there isn't anything that doesn't get scoffed at anymore. gaming enthusiasts are some the biggest cynics and jaded folk. Is there anyone who is consistently enthusiastic and positive out there?
seriously, I'm all for this game. I love arcadey games, especially if they look this nice. That pic of hyrule castle at night with the balloons seriously lessens the pain of not having Brawl this holiday. Also, this is a $20 game with a free gun add-on... and even without the gun I'd get this game day one.
You guys are hilarious, this looks just like TP. Maybe you were playing with composite cables are your 13" televisions or something.
The Nintendo hate is just getting out of control now.
@Despacio:
Is it hate when they're praising a game while simultaneously (and arbitrarily) bashign a similar one?
It's less hate than it is "complaining just to complain."
i'm still yet to play the zelda:tp, but it seems like when it came out everyone was like "ooh this is SO GOOD" and now, "bwaaah it suuucks I HATE NINTENDO!!"
@Fallen_Reality:
inochi is right. Gamers criticise everything. Everything. They even criticised a video game company for helping research cancer. Cancer.
[kotaku.com]
The Zapper actually looks more like a crossbow handle than a gun.
Whoops. That was meant for Sixtail.
could it just be that people thought TP looked good and just find that this looks even better? and you really can't generalize... when TP came out, there WERE a some people complaining about some graphical problems. Personally, I didn't find them perfect either, even though it overall looked very nice.
So, Link will be a lefty here?
@shiwasu: It's the nature of internet gamers. They have a voice and will use it as loudly as they can. No matter how annoying.
Video game systems have become the new sports teams.
For $20 bucks I'm sold. Just hope there is support for it.
What I dislike about this whole thing is that Nintendo may have given us an el-cheapo (price-wise) console but they're nickel and diming me to death here with controllers! Buy a wii-mote. Buy a nunchuck. Buy a wii-zapper.
I don't know. I guess it's just three things. Still. Have voice, will use.
I probably won't buy it as it seems more like a gimmick anyway but if an awesome, full fledged game comes along that requires it then perhaps PERHAPS i'll think about it. Perhaps.
@LunchViking: The zapper comes with this game though. For 20. So...
the graphics look pretty damn good, especially the textures, nice and sharp. Inpressive. I want that game.
"I have to go online and flame games I haven't even tried just by looking 2-3 pictures and after that I have to buy the game myself and flame it even more online so no one else would play it" -something that one endboss in one game said. Imo it is a bargain for just 20$.
@Sixtail:
It's true, but nonetheless odd. When I watch international sports, though, I support my country's team because they come from where I come from, and are playing to win for their country (me). But video game companies? They play to win, not for gamers, but for themselves and their stockholders.
That didn't make a lick of sense, but my point was, it's quite reasonable to barrack and be passionate for a sports team, because they play for you, but not so much for a business.
BTW, the whole game isn't on-rails. In ranger mode you can control link with the stick.
@BrainofJTD: @Despacio: No, this is not what TP looked like. I'm using component cables. It may just be some sort of screenshot trickery, but theses look much better than TP. The textures and colors look better.
@Yas: Reminded me of this: [cache.kotaku.com]
@shiwasu: Yea, sports teams play just for you. And for the beauty of it all. There's absolutely no monetary stake in that wonderful world of rainbow running merry little men. Go team delusional!
@LunchViking:
No game will require it. And the system comes with a remote and a nunchuk, that's hardly a peripheral argument.
Finally, I can live my life-long dream of shooting a Goron in the crotch. ^_^
@LunchViking: They're not 'nickel-and-diming you'. You get a mini Zelda game for $20. It looks like a lot of fun (not compared to a full-price game, but reasonable for the price). And hey, they throw in a free piece of plastic!
Sure the game might have been $10 for download (and personally I'd prefer it without the piece of plastic) but $20 is not too bad.
@fanatism: Twilight Princess is awesome. People only bash it because it's basically the same as every other Zelda game, with a few new twists - which is definitely true, but has also been true of every other Zelda game by definition, and they were still awesome. If you don't like Zelda or you think you've been all Zeldaed out over the years, don't get Twilight Princess. If you do still like Zelda, get it.
@Despacio: Exactly. It looks just the same; all those textures and models are from the original game. Nintendo said it was running the same engine... sure maybe they have tweaked it and made minor improvements but nothing I can immediately spot in those screenshots. It looked great, it still looks great, what's the surprise?
@Darkmoon:
That's why I said international teams. I might be delusional, but at least it's the optimistic kind, and not the 'lolzRRODphailureGIMMICK' kind. And I'll still keep believing that when that athlete, or gymnast, or whatever it may be goes for Olympic gold, they're thinking of their country, and not "hello sponsors!".
(yes, that was extremely corny. you don't have to point it out.)
@shiwasu:
Why does everything positive have to be considered corny? Be proud of your good attitude and sportsmanship.
@Sixtail:
I'm still not impressed by plastic cup holders sold as add-ons for a game system. Nintendo enjoys selling tiered add-ons ( Wii Play anyone? ) anyway, so why not make a real gun add-on? I'm sure some people will think this is fun and exciting, but you could just make your own 'zapper cup holder' out of cardboard or your favorite hobby material.
I realize the idea is to make it "not a gun in any shape and form", but I think it misses the entire point of a 'light gun'. This is to appeal to the concept "guns are evil", or Nintendo just like to cash out on $5 plastic molds -- take your pick. That's the reason people are mildly outraged by the zapper. I'll be modding my Guncon 3 of course, but at least you can hold it like a pistol to begin with. ^^
@LunchViking: Nobody is forcing you to buy anything you don't want to buy. Stop complaining for the sake of it.
Anyone remember that old arcade game called Crossbow? They should remake that for the zapper ... I loved that game.
Looks more involved than what I was thinking - which was a Gerudo training ground - like from OoT.
I'm getting this, but really don't have any desire for the periphrial.
@Mongoosekun:
It doesn't look like a pistol because it integrates the nunchuk. In MY opinion it DOES look like a gun with a large stock.
"Nintendo enjoys selling tiered add-ons ( Wii Play anyone?"
how is an extra controller or a $10 set of simple games a 'tired add on'?
@ajay42:
It's much more of a deal than ms or sony would ever produce. Sony won't even make DS3 mandatory for all PS3 skus for Christ's fucking sake.
Now that I think about it, what if they did and they had a bunch of SIXAXIS bundles still sitting on shelves? Boned. Then again everyone knows DS3 will EVENTUALLY, at some point MUST be integrated so they might as well say it.
@BrainofJTD:
Ah, thanks. This place has had a bad effect on me. ^^'
@Mongoosekun:
Guncon 3? Is that the one with the anologue stick/dpad sticking out of its side? Not very lefty friendly..
On the zapper. Sure, it doesn't look very badass, but the uproar those conservative parents made over the supposed wii zapper, I can see why Nintendo made it the way that it is.
I so want this game.
@ajay42: Maybe he actually meant "tiered", like he typed.
@Mongoosekun:
oh, and the Wii Play comment.
Wii Remote: $70
Wii Play with Wii Remote: $65
At least over here.
