If you pick up Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, play it, beat it, then play it and beat it again, you're treated to a secret trailer. One that gives us a glimpse of a shinier, smoother Midgar and Cloud's great big adorable baby blue eyes. Proof of a FFVII re-release? Oh, God, no, quit being so desperate. But it's nice seeing old friends tarted up, isn't it? Especially when you don't have to suffer through Advent Children to do it.

i hope this is true and not another cocktease like the ps3 tech demo.
Also a quick note, has anyone seen the "leaked" ffXVII-2 image.
I'm curious to see if kotaku knows more about it since I havent read anything about it on any site other than jeux-france a day or two ago.

Zing!
I wouldn't mind it for the ps3... but honestly i really want my FF6. I would cry and sell a kidney for that one.
I liked advent childern!! dirge sucked though
Is it just that PS3 tech demo trailer? I mean, I guess it would be nice to see on a television, but that's a pretty weak bonus.
From those screenshots, it looks like like the PS3 FF7 tech demo from 2 years ago, where they re-did the entire opening sequence and train ride in a nice HD-glory...
Im still on the fence if I should buy the game or not today.
Advent Children was a horrible MOVIE. However as FANSERVICE it cant be beat. It was a thorougly enjoyable piece of sht.
@Kiden4911:
LOL
I hope dearly they aren't planning a FF7 remake, the resources could go to a more worthy project. Stop milking the damn FF7 universe.
Or... before jumping to conclusions you could consider that FFVII Crisis Core is a prequel to FFVII and that FFVII continues the story after Crisis Core thus that continued in FFVII has a purely logical answer.
It's in the Kingdom Hearts style and not the Advent Children style, which is shown by the tech demo and FFXIII and vXIII stuff. This matches Agito and KH. The Advent eyes are actually a bit thinner and have bags.
In any case FFVII remake is going to happen. They've still ten years of FFVII to fill up if the world doesn't end in 2012.
"Especially when you don't have to suffer through Advent Children to do it."
BLASPHEMY! FF:AC remains one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and heard. The genius of the fight choreography alone is simply without equal.
@Spidermonkey: They'll stop milking it when it stops being awesome. And that is apparently never according to the bags with dollar signs on them.
I watched a co-worker of mine play it at work yesterday and WOW does that game look good.
@Spidermonkey:
This is Square-Enix we're talking about. Enix had been the king of milking their franchises before the merger, and afterwards Square picked up all the habits, and refined them into a giant cash cow.
S-E will keep milking until the FF7cow's brains come out through the udder.
Spot the Comic Sans cameo
@Chrysalis: Eh... I thought some of the animation was sloppy and motions, along with proportion way out of whack. Did you see how tiny Tifa's wrists were?
I mean hell, if you want something akin to Advent Children just watch the episodes of Naruto with the Battle at the Valley of Endings. They had a good animation team on it.
Or better yet just watch Samurai Champloo. I haven't seen enough of Seirei No Moribito to say either way about the fight animation.
As a 3-D feature length animation I'd agree that there is no equal however as a whole in animation there are loads of stuff that were better.
@Black-Dog-Howls: I rather climbhazzard my balls with the Buster Sword than watch Naruto or Advent Children (ever again).
@poplin: W T F
If sony wants to sell PS3's they'll pay 50 million development dollars for a FFVII remake. If they're really smart they'll have a followup FFVII-2 or FFXIV or the like the following year, also with a 50 million dollar development budget.
.
Wait, the came comes out tomorrow, but someone has already beat it twice?
@Furious_Liver: Depends on the episode and which animation studio did what episodes. Mad House has done quite a few of the better looking episodes, even though they sported a less shiney color pallette though more akin to the manga art style.
There are some pretty stand out fights such as Hokage battle, and Battle at the Valley of Endings. Too bad so much of the animation is done in Korea. More miss than hit which is a darn shame.
I liked Advent children, barely understandable without having played FFVII, but at the very least its an impressive CG movie. The fight sequences are awesome.
Naruto = Dragonball with ninjas.
The story started out good then was infected with the JUMP syndrome.
Same with Bleach.
@Chrysalis: If by genius you mean "was on too much caffeine and other stimulants when directing" then yes. But for beautiful choreography, it was just too quick and dirty, like someone who is finished in thirty seconds.
"consider that FFVII Crisis Core is a prequel to FFVII and that FFVII continues the story after Crisis Core thus that continued in FFVII has a purely logical answer."
... what?
Especially considering that logic and FFVII's story were like oil and water.
@Spidermonkey: I'm not sure why people complain about remakes. If they add something new and fun to the game, there doesn't seem to be much of a problem for me. If they go to the lengths that FFIVDS is reportedly going to, well, I think that's a fun and unique thing; an opportunity to go through a great game with a slightly different perspective, etc.
Now, personally, I wouldn't want an FFVII remake, but that is because I hate FFVII, and not due to any animosity against remakes in general. Might as well hate genres, if we're going down that road.
@Witzbold:
Hey have you watched Monster Witz? Please say yes. I think bleach is doing better then naruto story wise but i think the filler's killed it.
@Black-Dog-Howls: Tifa has wrists?
@Black-Dog-Howls: The proportions out of whack? I think that is a non-issue. It isn't supposed to look real, it's stylized. It's 3d anime, in essence.
And Naruto... meh. It was a cool fight, for the series, but nowhere near set a standard. Bleach has far more interesting fights in my opinion. Byakuya vs. Ichigo (Senbonzakura vs. Zangetsu) was beautiful and awesome. Tensa Zangetsu is still the coolest representation of inhuman speed I have seen.
@poplin: Hate to crush spirits, but that looks faker than a Duke Nukem Forever release date.
Do I have to port Crisis Core, or are we getting it stateside eventually?
@poplin:
I'm not sure how you got '17' out of that. That's clearly "VIII", or '8'. It doesn't look all that real, but that's what I thought about X-2 when I first saw it.
@Chrysalis: Yeah I enjoyed Advent Children aswell.
Sure, it's story may not have been that deep or even easily understandable for the general public, but that was never the point.
The point was - "its fuckin cool!" lol
;-)
@Altima NEO:
I have the game already, 5 hours in. Some places got it early.
@Witzbold: Agreed, but I disagree about Bleach. Tite Kubo is turning about to be a surprisingly intelligent mangaka, and, in my opinion, keeping away the dreaded DBZ syndrome with clever characters, plot twists, and interesting powers. The fights aren't too long, and stay interesting. Plus, they don't wait for each other to charge up their kai. That kind of crap always seemed retarded to me.
@dnzperson: Totally agree.
"Proof of a FFVII re-release? Oh, God, no, quit being so desperate."
Really? Here is a screenshot your missing on your gallery. [jay-t.com]
Spoiler alert... look at Cloud's sexy eyes. They demand an FF7 remake.
@Black-Dog-Howls:
Dude, Kakashi unleashes his new sharingan this week on Naruto Shippuuden. You don't want to miss that. Over 9000!
o_@
@shindoki: Someone hasn't been reading Bleach lately.
I can sum up the entire plot through one name and a suffix spoken by the fixture of the entire story seemingly. "Kurosaki-kun." Orihime saying Kurosaki-Kun through each chapter any moment she can is pretty much the entire plot of Bleach.
@Dangeresque: While I agree that Bleach had interesting fights Soul Society has proved to be the only good arc with any sense of direction or explanation.
@Witzbold: Bleach is way more Dragon Ball then Naruto. Everything is done by extension of the character and not magically reaching new heights also incorporating, while not on the mark of a military strategist, some kind of plan. At the same time there is no revolutionary power ups. Then again it could be semantics but as I recall everyone has had a set limit except for things that are technically.. you know... tailed demons.
Just note, read the manga and hardly view the animes.
@DigitalHero:
That's... how did... I...
TGS will not disappoint.
@Mongoosekun: I read the manga. I'm already way past that. I'll just wait for Shippuuden to come stateside. It'll probably be out by next fall considering by December Viz will be at Volume 27 starting the post time-skip arc in March.
@Witzbold: Completely agreed.
@Black-Dog-Howls: Its not the animation. Its the characters, their voices, and....ok the combat, which pretty much is the animation.
Sorry but I just despise it.
@Black-Dog-Howls:
I have and i agree with you about Orihime. It's obvious. I hope it doesn't disappoint because the action hasn't so far
i LIKED advent children. i hate it when people watch a movie expecting it to be like the game/book/video-fame/sub culture, it came from. watch it for what it is...a PHREAKING MOVIE! i like to street race...but you don't hear me complaining about the F&F series...
I always pictured cloud to look a little more tougher and a less little woman looking
Cloud also used to look European and not Asian. It amazes how much they mess these things up.
@angry_poster:
If you watch Advent Children as just a movie it is a horrible. Slow, contrived and boring as all hell. You can only appreciate any of it if you are a fan of the game.
Im losing faith in kotaku writers today, first lotr is overrated now advent children sucks?
@Black-Dog-Howls: I watch the anime, don't read the manga. So you may be right... damn, that's too bad. I liked Bleach.
@shindoki: I have to disagree with the action because this recent arc has had some of the most horrible monster of the week fights I've ever seen since Dragon Ball. Pink haired emo glasses mad scientist that creates clones of the enemy while being so incredibly gay that he can't be gay? Not only that buy a guy getting owned just to have someone god mode restore just to win a fight against someone that he lost against after barely gaining ground during 11 seconds against not even 50 chapters later? Push-pop designed villans? Walking into traps with out a head on their shoulders? More transforming women? Seriously man...
@Amdrag: i'm not a fan of the game...i never even beat it. "diffrent strokes for diffrent folks"
@Witzbold:
I agree sooooo hard.
