Thing about covering shows is that often you spend more of your time working (writing), than playing video games. I didn't get as many hands on as I would've liked, but, as I previously posted, did spend some time with Flight Simulator X. So, how was it?
I hated it.
Now, me hating it honestly says more about myself than the actual game. It's titled "Flight Simulator" and that is exactly what it is: A flight simulator. And in that regards, it delivers in every aspect. I've never flown a plane, but I imagine that doing so is rather difficult. Flight Simulator X was really difficult and not in the least bit fun, even with a learning curve.
Escapism is entertainment. I'm not so keen to replicate reality in my game play. I'd prefer something somewhat removed from my the real—hence my aversion to another sim Gran Turismo HD. There are individuals who will buy Flight Simulator X and cherish it. And for them, it will be escapism, an opportunity to experience actual flying. But for me, I'll stick to the game aspect of video games and leave the simulators for the pilots in training.
