Is it me? I'm not digging these FF7 spin off games. Advent Children was fine but these games are just strange. Will we ever have a true sucessor RPG?

Waiting for reviews. If good, may buy PSP for it.

I've never played FFVII, but I'm a sucker for action RPGs, so I'm sure I'll buy it. Also, wasn't this game announced two or three years ago?

Sorry, but I am a FF7 fan boy, but this kin dof stuff annoys the hell out of me, ruin the new crap like 10, 11, or whatever and keeps your grubby little mits off classics.

Something like this is exactly what the PSP needed if its any good. I wish I played 7, but I just can't seem to find the motivation to play it. FF9 is till my favorite game of all time.

They aren't doing much to prevent gay-ification of the guys, either-- I recognize Zack's voice actor as one of the two twins from an anime called Ouran High School Host Club. The twins prey on the weakness of yaoi fangirls by flirting with each other constantly.

Why is FFVII it's own series? The game itself wasn't even the best in the series proper.

It's nice that Zach is finally getting like, a personality. I just wish I knew what the hell they were all saying.

Whatshisface, the designer, all his older characters are interesting looking (you can tell Zach from Cloud, etc), but all his newer characters just look the same. Just a bunch of "kawaii bishies" with too many belts and zippers running around. It's getting kind of tired.

Anyway, I haven't been paying attention (so this might be stupid question), but are the fights all turn-based? They look kinda real-time from that clip.

Bah, VII. Never liked it, and wasting all their time on these spin-offs certainly isn't helping.

Dirge was awesome story wise.

Not so much gameplay wise though, but who gives a damn, when the story works.

(sidenote, you had to be playing the japanese version without the shitty voice acting to consider it "above average").

Crisis Core looks decent. Genesis. Angel. Something I'd be interested in. Sephiroth before he goes batshit crazy is a plus too, considering that side of him can use development, and could be developed well for.

I wish Before Crisis didn't come out on stupid Mobile Phones. I'd enjoy going through the Turks.

I hope the cutscene to gameplay ratio is different for the final game. I have a nagging feeling it won't be.

i dont understand what squares deal is with these ff VII cash ins. I mean if it was just about money they would have already re did ffvii. I guess they think milking VII to death is the best bet before they do indeed remake it. You know they will. Its square.

See, this is a game that I wish lost its exclusivity. A port to the DS, or even to the PS2 or PS3 would save me from forking out for the PSP. I really hope that it's better than 'Dirge', but I'm buying it anyway. Cutscenes look awesome, and I'm interested in how the backstory will differ from the FF7 version. Plus, Gackt character.

While I originally bought a PSP most recently because of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, its really good to see that there's a whole slew of new and awesome games coming out for the system, despite its detractors and microsoft/nintendo fanboys, and the internet as a whole.

Its interesting to see the differing opinions of people. While I stand next to those who are in awe of this game, what's disappointing are the people who are complaining about the spinoffs. I mean, yeah, Dirge kinda really sucked, but X-2 was great, and quite frankly, as far as gameplay footage is of concern, Crisis Core looks to be shaping up, though that whole slot machine system worries me a little.

@ApeofGods: Excuse me, but what's your problem with Final Fantasy XI? It was a damn good mmorpg, if I do say so myself.

Looks interesting. Ive always liked FFVII but I always though Cloud was a dull character. I'd like to know more about everyone else though.

Final Fantasy VII was good. It wasn't supreme RPG of all RPGs nor was it complete rubbish. I think a lot of hate is garnered from how fanboys react to any negative comments about it. Not to say anyone here is a rabid fanboy, but a lot of the time people dislike VII because of the people who like it. (Sorry, there's a comma splice in that last sentence)
I was a fan of VII when I was younger although I've never got around to seeing Advent Children (or playing Derge of Cerebus for that matter) but I think this looks pretty interesting. If it really does do a good job of telling Zack, Sephiroth, and Cloud's story, I'd probably have to pick it up. And a $250 brick.

Despite how much I've cringed at all the other FF spin-offs, I actually think this PSP version looks pretty good so far. Advent Children? I knew it was going to blow. Dirge of Cerberus? I took one look and had that gut feeling the gameplay was going to be horrendous--Square making a full out third person action game was trouble from the start. I watch Crisis Core trailers and look at screenshots and I think the exact opposite. It might just work. And it looks great for a PSP game to boot as expected of Square. I'm not putting my hopes up too high just yet though, but I have to admit, I don't understand what the hell these guys are saying in Japanese but so far it looks like it's shaping up to be a great game.

Imo this trailer was boring as all the FF trailers i have seen so far,yet is the first time i see Kotaku mentioning FF without the "Yaoi" tag on it.

Well, I understood about 5 words out of that, but still looks very interesting. Too bad I won't buy a PSP for it, if only they released it for PS2 instead. The only thing is I'd like to see more from the actual game because the scary part from that trailer is that it seems be even more of a movie than the rest of the series.

If you wanna make another ff7 spin off games, how about giving Cid Highwind his dues and giving him his own game, complete with Highwind customization and more spear flinging than you can handle =D

I like the visual style, the textures match the original more than Advent Children did.
Its nice to see slightly old-school graphics look so good.
I'm not sure if its worth buying a psp for though.

If only I had a PSP... this actually looks like a half decent addition to the whole extended FFVII universe. We finally find out everything about zack and aeris and all that... kickass.

Is it just me or does the gameplay look kinda Kingdom Hearts-y? The story seems to be as mind-numbing as all the other FFVII related titles, but I don't really have a problem with that. The graphics and cutscenes look really awesome as well. I can't wait to add this to the pile of PSP games I haven't played yet (because I'm still playing Metal Gear Acid 1).

I personally like the idea of revisiting old classics. I like it how Nintendo has been doing it with Mario, Zelda and Metroid, so why the hell not FF games?

If Nintendo can make 15 or so Zelda games with the same story, I want 15 FF7s too!
