All you Second Lifers out there, don't forget: This weekend is the big community convention. The Second Life Community Convention is being held at the For Mason Center in San Francisco and runs from Friday through Sunday.

The event will feature live musicians and DJs from SL as well as tons of panels on everything from sex and relationships to launching a real business in the virtual world.

It's amazing to chart the growth of SL. When they held last year's community event, there were 60,000 subscribers in the game. This year there are about half a million. Slow and steady growth, that's what marks a virtual world's longevity, if you ask me. Brian Crecente
