    Sneaky Publishers, ESRB Will Fine Yer Pants Off

    At a conference on Capitol Hill today, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board said failure to fully disclose a game's content could mean a six figure fine. Obviously worried about another Hot Coffee, ESRB president Patricia Vance told the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection:

    After a game ships, if disclosure is found to have been incomplete, recent enhancements to the ESRB enforcement system will soon allow for the imposition of fines up to $1 million.

    Things got heated when the hearing's chair Cliff Stearms challenged Vance, leaving her to defend why the ESRB's board is composed of game publishers. She also had to defend ESRB's heavily reliance on documentation from publishers regarding game content as the board doesn't completely play through each title. An impossible task, sure. But like, does that mean the ESRB aren't really h4rdc0r3 g4merz? Shocking.
