Earlier today I posted about the Lost easter eggs that people have been finding in Half-Life 2, specifically a Dharma Initiative like logo and the mysterious Lost numbers. I put out a call for folks to send in any that they found and Kotakuite, External Gazer got right on and emailed us a picture of the numbers which we did not have before. So there it is in all it's easer eggy glory. If anyone finds any more, be sure to send them our way!

I love me some good easer eggs
haha, I love that show and it looks like valve does too. The game was great and little things like this just make you appreciate it more.
You know, I'm hoping it is JUST an easter Egg..
A lost HL2 tie in would break me
Kotaku write about the xbox live not being online atm with no warning
I was so busy being giddy over Aperture Labs being canonical that I completely overlooked easter eggs. I guess this excuse is as good as any to play through again.
@flukielukie: Live's okay for me. It's Halo 3 that's fucked up :(
Live and xbox.com is down for me =/
@Kuraudo: yep halo 3 is down, live is also down since I couldnt sign into my profile.
live is back up...
Arrgh!
I don't watch Lost. What do these numbers have to do with the show?
Gotta love those easter eggs!!!
@Trowble: For the entire second season, the survivors have to input the code into a computer much like the one in the picture above every 100 something minutes (I forgot, it was a long time ago) for unknown reasons. Supposedly something bad happens when you don't put the numbers in, but the catch is: how will you know if you're just being screwed around with?
Did you like my non-spoiler answer? No? Fine.
Spoilers abound:
S*** blows up when you don't put the numbers in.
End spoilers
@Trowble: It was in season 1 I believe, one of the characters heard the numbers repeated non stop from a crazy guy in a mental institution. He then used the numbers and won the lottery, and had nothing but bad luck (relatives died, places blew up, his plane crashed on the island). Then while on the island, on a hatch buried in the ground the numbers were written. Then inside the hatch, they found a man who has been entering the numbers into a computer for the last X years, every 108 minutes.

"The numbers" is probably one of the coolest parts of the show, and is always showing up, sometimes where you aren't even looking for it.
[i9.tinypic.com] is my favorite example.
Forget about xbox Live, Kotaku should get on the case of what the "Long awaited pre-launch surprise" was that Lukems talked about before Halo 3 released.
That's weird... last night I was playing Episode 2 for about three hours and then decided to take a break by starting up the first season of Lost. Haven't watched it before, but its pretty good so far. That's weird though.
Live isnt down for me i don't think. I tried playing a team fortress match but then i lost connection with the serve and then i just froze. But i just assumed that was standard TF2 at work since it's been doing that at random says day 1
@Chief2BeaR:
I think it was the VidDoc...
@scottyboy218:
Hurly had a bit of good luck with the numbers though.. Rations! Lots and lots of rations for hording.
@scottyboy218: a man who has been entering the numbers into a computer for the last X years, every 108 minutes.
Aren't there PERL scripts that could do that automatically?
Seriously, I hate when people put nonsense math in TV shows or movies. Real math is more interesting.
Anyone notice the numbers while playing Skate?
Guess there are Lost references everywhere.
scottyboy218 if you actually watched the show then you would know their technology isn't that great so I wouldn't doubt they couldn't do what you suggested. Think before posting.
@sxp151: Well one of the main ideas behind having to enter the numbers, was that they were told it would be catastrophic if they didn't. If someone told you that you had to do something very simple, or else the world MIGHT end, would you continue doing it? Would you risk not hitting the buttons if the world MIGHT end? Or would you constantly keep hitting the buttons, always living in a shadow of fear that if you didn't, the world might end?
another possible reference could be the name of chapter 6: "Our Mutual Fiend."
its a play on our mutual friend, which is the Dickens book that Desmond wanted to be the last thing he ever reads.
@sxp151: The computer in question was VERY old. Like from the 70s or so. Besides, if you're going to tear apart that bit of Lost stuff, your head will explode if you actually watch the show.
@sxp151: Even then someone would have to be there to make sure the computer kept working forever. And as Xerves7 said, the computer was very old.
Lost does my nut in though. I love the show but I just wish they would explain some of the damn mysteries once in a while. We've been wondering who the others/hostiles are for nearly 4 years now.
@Nayl: We've been wondering about the true motivations of the G-Man for almost nine years. :)
Half Life 2 and Lost, two great tastes that taste great together.
Do they even really explain how the combine come to earth and take over? I haven't finished episode one yet.
@Timsobuff74: There's some stuff here and here that explains some of it, but mostly they just leave it open that they came through the portals created in HL1
@serotoninzero: Subliminal influence, I bet.
Valve should helm a Lost game. ::fingers crossed::
@BebopBlue:
Well Said!
@Fenris Wolf:
Dont get me excited!
What level/chapter is this found in? I'm guessing it's not in the Lost Coast! :P
Lost degenerated into pure filler a while ago, from what I've seen. I hear they've picked up, but once I saw an entire season basically summed up in a single clip show episode.
Heroes is way better for that sort of thing. But still, the Lost references seem to suit Half-Life. The game has a similar feel to it.
@Fenris Wolf:
If I'm not mistaken, Ubisoft has the rights to the Lost game. Ubi Montreal is developing.
You can see a book inside the place with eli right before the scrapyard on the bookshelf that says lost on it in the same font as on the show but it has multi colored letters i think.
@Gamemaster: @scottyboy218: Thanks for the info. I get the gist of it now, that picture really gives an idea of how eerie the show is.
DOG vs. the Smoke Monster.
Who would win?
Also, I would like to see Alex's flashbacks?
.. OK, enough LOST/HL2 crossover dreams.
@Sabre_Justice:
The second half of Season 3 redeemed Lost for me. It's also a show you have to watch in 5 episode chunks, or else you feel like nothing's happened. Well, for me, anyway.
As for Heroes, it's the new Lost, except with bad music and voiceovers. I remember last season when at the end of the episode, Peter's hands started to glow, and I was dying to know what was going to happen. In the next episode, all that happened was his hands stopped glowing, and him saying 'Uh, I'm okay.' It's the nature of these shows to let you down every once and awhile, but all that counts is that they keep you watching in the end. ^^
@Sabre_Justice: Yeeeaah... I don't really think you can compare those two shows. Lost's complexity makes you angry and Heroes is a popcorn show. I like me both, but let's be honest that Heroes and Lost aren't on the same level.
Eggy glory is the best kind of glory. Especially easer eggy glory.
@ArmyofJuan:
" Live isnt down for me i don't think. I tried playing a team fortress match but then i lost connection with the serve and then i just froze. But i just assumed that was standard TF2 at work since it's been doing that at random says day 1"
I had no problems getting on XBL with Halo or TF2, but the lag in TF2 was unbearable. I came close to quiting, but didn't want to screw my team over. We won 5-0 in Dustbowl, but the lag made it really difficult for most of it.
If the makers of Lost reciprocate and make the last 7 episodes be about the 7 hour war, then I'll have a nerdgasm.
@Lightbunny: Perhaps it wasn't an "exclusivity" deal.
