In an interview with GameDaily, EA VP Neil Young discloses a bit of information about just what exactly it is they and Steven Spielberg are working together on.
I can't really share game details, but if you recall the original announcement we agreed to build three things with Steven, three original projects. We have two of those underway at the studio right now. I can tell you one of them is what you might expect, in that Steven's stories are often intimate stories set against an Earth or world changing event. And if you think about Steven Spielberg's movies, those big stories are sort of shown through the eyes of a small number of people that are intimately connected.
That'll be War of the Worlds, then. Oh I kid, I kid. Apparantly it'll feature some shiny new artificial intelligence (the tech, not the movie), and "at its core is an AI driven relationship that the player has with another character". Maybe a dog!
The second game is "really not in that vein", will be on the Wii, and "it's very different and very interesting and we're excited about that".
You're excited? Great! I'm a little worried, myself - I'm thinking Spielberg's involvement might create an unfair amount of expectation from these games, regardless of whether or not Doug Church is involved. Go on, EA (and you too, Spielberg, with your beard and your Oscars), prove me wrong.
