Officially launching today but active since Wednesday, Electronic Arts has announced EA Link, their new PC game download service. It replaces EA Downloader, the last in a long line of shoddily implemented EA online service attempts.
EA Link is a program you install on your PC which provides a direct line to various games, wallpapers, demos, and trailers. You can create an account and even link your Paypal to it, creating a new, more convenient way for Electronic Arts to take your money. With Need for Speed Carbon already available for download, it looks like you'll never have to buy another EA PC title at the store again, unless they somehow completely screw it up. Like that would ever happen.
I've downloaded the program myself, but the firewall where I am posting this blocks it from connecting to the EA server. The network administrator is Satan, and will only open up a port if you beat him in a fiddling contest. I am a very poor fiddler.
