EA: Don't Judge The PS3 On Price (Yet)

FLORIN ITGerhard Florin, executive vice prez and GM of international publishing at EA, says it's still too early to declare anyone the "winner" of the current console wars. The company is playing its publishing cards fairly evenly, supporting what they consider to be the appropriate franchises for each console.

When asked about Sony's price point for the PS3, which is often considered a bit pricey in Europe, and how it will affect the PlayStation market share, 10-year EA vet Dr. Florin urges patience.

You'll only be able to tell in two years' time. Look at the price in two years' time, and then you can say whether it's too high. I don't know where it will be, but then you can judge whether it's high or not too high.

That's why the company will continue to support each new console equally, depending on the franchise. Harry Potter? Perfect for Wii-waggling. Medal of Honor? Black? Gonna need that Cell processor! Online components? 360 it is!

The EA veep concedes that Sony will have a harder time maintaining their current level of install base, but... well, you know, check in with him in 2009.
