With the news that the most frugal console Playstation 3 console will still cost five hundred bucks, you might have been led to believe that that extra hundred bucks is only going towards more hard-drive space. Unfortunately, early word indicates that you're going to be missing out on a lot of stuff if you decide to scrimp.

If the image above &mdash - found in the Playstation 3 press release by the guys over at the Penny Arcade forums — is correct, the five hundred PS3 will not only contain a mere third of the storage space of its more expensive brother, but it will also be missing HDMI, memory card support and built-in WiFi.

With the PS3's graphical prowess on display at E3 looking sadly analogous to the 360's rendering abilities and the Wii likely to price at less than half of what a jacked PS3 costs, not to mention that there will only be a million consoles available worldwide in November, it certainly appears that Sony is doing absolutely everything to foul up this launch.
