GoNintendo is reporting that King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is heading for DVD. So, if you missed it in the theaters, now is your chance to see grown men acting like bratty children over who has the highest game score in the comfort of your own living room. The DVD, put out by New Line Cinema, will sell for $19.98 and will have an anamorphic widescreen transfer and commentary from director Seth Gordon and producer Ed Cunningham and a the obligatory extra features. Provided all goes as planned, the disc should be hitting shelves January 29, 2008.

awesome, i really wanted to see this, but im not sure why, but i hope it comes out over in the uk too.
I figured they would've made an effort to get it in before Christmas.
I would've gotten one.
I saw this in the theatre. It very well-made, entertaining, silly, crazy, dramatic, and awesome.
I liked it.
I just played Donkey Kong again for the first time in years. Suprisingly, the game is still awesome.
If it doesn't have mode 7 I aint buying.
but then again... I don't think the CPU in my DVD player could even begin to comprehend Mode 7.

Yeah, I have the virtual console NES version on my Wii, and I'd say I play it more than any other game besides Gunstar Heroes. Maybe it's tied with Super Castlevania IV and Super Metroid. It's awesome despite the fourth-level castration...still fun, even if it's not the arcade version.
Iam glad that this is getting a DVD release. Cause i Remember going to those Shitty small movie theaters in the middle of nowhere to see something great that misses the radar (like King of Kong) so you don't hear much about it in the media unless it was a gamer media medium (like Kotaku). Cause i did the same to see The Cowboy Bebop anime movie. But once i get this DVD iam going to have a big screening at my place for all my Friends who wanted to see this great film.
This movie absolutely must be watched by all.

I heard about this on SideScrollers, and apparently Billy Mitchell comes off as quite the asshole in this movie. Can't wait for it!
This film is unbelievable. Starts off as a doco about Donkey Kong, ends up exposing the American Dream (ie everyone can succeed if they try hard enough) as being nothing more than a dream. I can't recommend it enough.

I wanna see this movie, but I'm not so sure I'd spend 20$ to see it once or twice....
Excellent pop documentary. I saw it at the IFC center in Manhattan great fun audience was cracking up. I think the material is enough to warrant a purchase.
It's worth it for the "Wiiipe my buuuuuuuuutt!" part alone.
