Free DDO Weekend

ddofreeweek.jpgThought I'd post this since I generally find out about these things the day after they end. Starting tomorrow, all inactive Dungeons and Dragons: Stormreach accounts in North America will be reactivated for free through Sunday, to allow former players a chance to come back ad see all the new changes that have come about since you left in a fit of boredom a month after the game came out. Maybe that was just me.

Current and returning players will also enjoy a +50% XP and +1 to loot all weekend long, as well as special live events.

Meanwhile all European players who left get a full 10 days reactivation, because a European is apparently worth roughly three North Americans.

  • yeah, i got this in my email, too. i haven't played in nearly a year--i stopped right after they released the first module.

i got so annoyed at the fact that it took me ~35mins just to find a group, and you couldn't effectively solo any of the quests.

but now, apparently they've tweaked a lot and made a buncha stuff for soloing, so i'm gonna try it again.

i suppose their plan has worked. for now.

so, if anyone wants a level 8 rogue for a weekend romp, peep avalonde and i'll sniggity-sneak my way into your (possible collective) hearts.

    as you were, gentlemen.

  • That's funny!

I DID leave in a fit of boredom after 1 month. Two of my RL friends are still slogging through the DDO dungeons. This weekend will be the only way I can talk to them.

    Voice-chat FTW!

I found this game way slow too. Some nice bits but a lot of running from here to there or waiting for someone else to run from there to here.

What I thought was nice is the fact that a rogue, gets to act like a rogue with finding and disarming traps, hidden passeges etc.

Asides from being an assasin machine, like in so many other MMORPGs out there.

I had fun with it for a while with the free trial. Cant imagine myself paying a monthly fee for it though.

What was sad though that DND online felt more like NWN 2 than NWN 2.

  • This game would be nice if it was a real RPG and not another MMO dungeoncrawler. :/
