Yesterday, I got to perform surgery on the Nintendo DS. Today, I was lucky enough to try a court case. No shit. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was on display in the Capcom booth, and those of you itching for a good attorney sim or for something hilariously fun ought to give it a look.
In the E3 demo, Phoenix's friend, Larry Butz, is framed for the murder of his girlfriend. The gameplay? Refute witness testimoney, don't piss off the judge, and look for evidence. Sounds dull, right? Surprisingly, it wasn't.
The game has a sharp wit, copious amounts of animated cleavage, and a deep storyline. I'll have no objection (sorry!) to picking this up when it's published in the fall. [M.M.]
