Wii Tennis Tourney

Live in New York? Like to game? Into drinking? The first organized Wii Tennis tourney I've heard of, Wiimbledon, will be held June 23rd at Barcade in Brooklyn. Entering is totally free. From the event's official site:

Wiimbledon is a Wii Tennis tournament being held Saturday, June 23 from noon until 5pm at Barcade in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There will be singles and doubles tournaments, prizes and, yes, beer. Maybe even some strawberries and cream. Oh, and cucumber sandwiches.

Thats a pretty cool idea. Lets just hope they have an umpire checking the wiimote straps. <mentally picturing bar fights breaking out from flying wiimote strikes >.

How about a Wii game where you control a guy on the screen holding a wii controller playing a game on his screen. It could be a wii simulator.

Wiimbledon isn't as bad of a name as some others. I have when they replace the "re"s with "wii". Like "wiimote". I find baby talk vomit inducing. It isn't cute, funny, or clever.

This sounds like way too much fun.

On another note, I've been to the BarCade and it's a blast. The walls are lined with old school machines that all still run on quarters!

Maybe that's why a beer was $7.50...

I organized one of these with friends and family. I presented it as a fun, laid-back event, but my real intent was to smoke some aces and rip returns and dare anyone to stop me.

Needless to say, I now Wii alone.
