As fans of the monster truck arts are well aware, the Donkey Kong Monster Jam truck made its debut in Minnesota this past weekend. It made loud sounds and used a ton of fuel to crush some things. The Donkey Kong truck shouldn't just be commended for its ability to remind people that DK Jungle Climber and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast are available at fine retailers everywhere, it also placed fourth in its first ever competition. According to Monster Jam Online's account of the story, it achieved "some huge air and several slap wheelies."
Driver Frank Krmel appeared to struggle more with maintaining a smile in the face of wearing a DK suit and tie than he did piloting the new monster truck. He said of the new ride, "Donkey Kong has been around since 1981, and everyone's seen it all over the place, so they figured Monster Jam was the next natural progression." Truly. Where could the series have gone but to monster trucking? A full shot of the truck is after the jump.

In fact, there's a bunch of new images, possibly even one of a slap wheelie, at the official site.
The full interview with Krmel is available at Monster Jam Online, for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of monster truck driving.

He's not wearing a tie. It's part of the suit! I wonder if it was that way in the original textures. Now I'm going to have to look it up.
New Low? I say new high!
Also, Monster Truck racing still exists?
"Donkey Kong has been around since 1981, and everyone's seen it all over the place, so they figured Monster Jam was the next natural progression."
Is that an actual quote? What the hell would make anyone think monster truck racing was the next natural progression to anything? Of course I didn't see the bongo game coming, so maybe I'm not one to talk.
@Lou3000: Different strokes, I guess! I would certainly not sneeze at being handed a Donkey Kong printed fire suit.
I love to see Mario try to take the princess from *THAT*.
I don't think Monster trucks can hit a new low. They've been there for quite some time. Actually, I'd probably be more likely to watch a monster truck show if that particular vehicle was there. :D
Monster Truck racing is bigger than ever! It's just, monster truck enthusiasts don't use the Internet. I was watching that Hatton/Mayweather fight and saw a commercial for Monster Truck Pay Per View!
I think that guy has it going on, and naysayers just aren't comfortable with the way he's SHOWING up and GETTING IT done. If you want to SHOW UP and GET IT DONE, this is the guy you oughtta be taking pointers from.
That second picture looks like it's in miniature.
yeah whats so low about that? i thnk its badass. me wants the suit.
I really want to try out the new DK game for the DS - anyone here tried it?
Wasn't their something posted recently about a Donkey Kong-themed Monster-Truck game? Or did I dream it?
@rainking187:
I would consider monster truck racing a digression if anything.
I can say that I like this and not feel ashamed.
...or at least not very ashamed. There's nothing wrong with combining of one hobby with another- especially when the two are video games, and seeing a really big vehicle destroy many smaller ones.
Is this what happens when your company has the capacity to print its own money?
Unlockable in Excite Truck 2, please!
Ew. Implied nudity and chunky monster-truck guys don't mix.
Did Joel Schumacher have something to do with this?
Well it's not like monster truck drivers are basketball players or football players. They'd be damn lucky if they got local endorsements. Nothing wrong in making an honest living.
cool truck, I wish there would be an Excite Truck 2, but the developers are working on something different.
You haven't seen low yet! Wait till the after-show where this driver's truck and Bigfoot don their furry outfits and proceed to tap each other's back bumpers.
Seeing this images makes me nostalgic about Microsoft's old IP, Monster Truck Madness. That was one of the very first MS IPs but I'm not even sure if their was a "Microsoft Game Studios" back then.
At least he looks the part. Hee hee.
@okenny :): Same... Hmm, why not a Donkey Kong Monster Trucks tie-in game? It'd be like Mario Kart but more redneck-oriented.
Probably the first time the poor guys worn a tie, even if it is painted on his monster truck suit.
I like how the truck has a tie, too bad none of those pictures really show it. You can easily see it in this video at :39

@rhoq: or the next Mario Kart!
I wonder what Shiggy thinks about this.
@bparker06: "Donkey Kong? What's that?"
In case you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a decent DK game since the N64/SNES/Arcade/Ever depending on opinion.
I'm gonna go ahead and clarify something for anyone here that's still confused: The reason the trucks are so big is because the drivers are compensating for having tiny, tiny penises. Not that it is entirely their fault. Malformed reproductive organs are a common result of inbreeding. It's natures way of saying "your genetics aren't worth keeping."
Wow. That is hilarious. I love the tie. Nice touch. Can you IMAGINE how he feels having to wear that getup? How can his wife sleep with him at night?
@Smadubaku: well at least people come to see his show, not like those 2 Japanese developer gentlemen with the toilet paper.
@Smadubaku: He has plenty of redneck nerd groupies.
I can't believe I missed that. The metrodome's only fifteen minutes off campus!
@Sabre_Justice: Well if I knew I just had to throw on an ape suit with a tie to get some groupies, I would have done it a long time ago. Of course Robin Williams just has to take off his shirt.
I support the DK Monster Truck, mainly because I so would have rather seen Sonic and Mario at Monster Jam than at the Olympic games.
