My editors at the Rocky Mountain News decided to post my hardware review of the 360 early. The rest of the package will run next Friday.
Here's the lede:
The future of video games comes in a sleek white box, sits next to your DVD player and displays pictures, shows movies and plays music as easily as it lets you game. It also probably costs as much as your television.
Although Microsoft's Xbox 360 - which goes on sale Tuesday - is a thing of fantastic potential, promising to put you at the center of a whirlwind multimedia and gaming experience, it currently doesn't boast an ample supply of next generation games to warrant the $400 price tag. All but the most devoted fans of gaming should probably wait till next year when the titles are more developed and the price a bit lower.
