In case you didn't already catch a glimpse of them in this god awful commercial, here is a nice stationary photo of the new "Big Button" controllers for Scene It's new game for the 360. I actually kind of like the Scene It games as long as they are one of the off shoots like the Turner Classic Movie one and not the horrible mainstream one where I'm forced to sit through scenes from When Harry Met Sally, but these controllers...I don't know. Something about them leaves me feeling like I'm playing with a Fisher Price lady's "massager" if you catch my meaning. The upside is that for the same price of a regular game ($60), you get all four controllers along with the game when you purchase it.

those are rather intimidating
lolz lolz, meh not interested in the game but thanks for the daily laugh xD
Demo on XBL was pretty fun to play with my girlfriend. I'll be picking this up Wednesday if for nothing more than a fun non-serious-competitive game. I kinda wish there was a disc-only version for a little cheaper, but it'll still be a good time and well worth the money. And I'm looking forward to (hopefully) some expansions eventually.
XBox360 is such a kiddie console...
:)
looks like a babys toy
This is how MS goes for the casuals... SONY is no better with the singing crap. People don't want this stuff! And most owners of an xbox 360 wouldn't even be seen dead with this game. So instead of getting a bowling or some other party game that involves some sort of action they pull a fisher price video game gameshow deal? Where is the xbox waggle stick! It's funny how only new comers and nintendo gets it right.
Ok I'm done with this one... I mean come on what is more exciting answering questions are actually doing some thing? I mean really let go of the button crazy MS! Can we have levers, pullies, some thing else to get the action going! This is the next gen man!
The avg casuals doesn't want buttons. Give them some thing fresh man!
Man every one is trying to make a quick buck off this stuff...LOL Casual games money sink... Why would you try to do some thing that is not in your companies character?
At least they could have made it stylish... they skipped Ipod apple look for str8 up preschool! I mean dang do they hate apple that much?
@Runna: What the hell does this have to do with Apple?
[www.futuregamez.net]
Kinda looks familiar. But what the hell. Why change a working design.
I'm not a casual gamer, but I DO have other adult friends who aren't gamers and this would be an awesome game to have for when they come over (a good alternative to Mario Party that we sometimes play). Since the game comes with the 4 controlers and still is $60 and future downloadable content, I'll probably get it.
I had missed that commercial. I was lucky. Just saw it now. I was having a good day. :(
@Moonshadow101: Everything and nothing, all at once.
@Runna: The Wii and DS weren't even remotely close to Nintendo's character if you look at them back before those two releases, and Nintendo seems to be doing alright for itself.
Why?
man, it reminds me of the 'Buzz!' games
Hmm Is this just a rip of Buzz by any chance?
Seems like a good deal to me. I'm what could be called a hardcore gamer and this still seems fun to me. The demo was amusing and seemed good for social gaming purposes. I don't see anything wrong with that.
This is a total ripoff of Buzz! for the PS2. Sad that most people won't realize it.
Hey I already Scene It... for Buzz!
Boy oh boy I crack myself up somtimes... In a non-concieted way. lol.
@vizion:
The original Scene it came out in 2002. How could they have ripped off Buzz if Buzz came out years after?
@PeonCulture: Didn't you hear? Sony owns the "large button with series of smaller buttons under it" concept.
@Runna: People don't want this game for their 360 and wouldn't be caught dead with it? Oh, I forgot, you represent EVERY person who owns a 360. Your statement is pretty far from the truth. Not every 360 owner is some Halo-loving Madden-playing frat boy (or middle schooler) like you seem to believe.
I'm actually looking forward to playing this game with my girlfriend and my family. There was also a few other people who posted before me that seem to be genuinely excited about the game.
@Runna: SONY is no better with the singing crap. People don't want this stuff!
You're right, nobody bought the SingStar games. Certainly not, you know, millions upon millions of people.
@Runna:
SingStar is a system seller in Europe, there arent many girls out there who dont own a PS2 and Singstar.
are they via infrared and not wireless? meaning they must be in direct sight of the console? not a major issue, but i guess it kept down the cost.
Yeah, but you aren't getting a "Normal" game. You are getting a $30 dollar game at best. There is definitely a premium for these controllers built into the price.
@vizion:
I agree completely. I just hope these don't have the cheap feel and weight of the Buzz buzzers.
@DjFIL: Yep, they're infrared and you have to have the receiver sitting on or near your TV. Not a dealbreaker I guess but it would have been a lot nicer if they'd been RF wireless, especially when people start getting a little excited (and/or drunk) and forget that they need to aim the controller in the general direction of the TV.
The only Scene It I've actually been able to sit down and play was one of the spin-offs... and it was freakin' ESPN Sports trivia. Terrible. Obviously I don't know any of the answers, nor do I want to sit through that boring garbage. I've since longed to play the normal game.
A Fisher Price dildo would be awesome
What button do you shoot with?
I'm too much of a film lover to care about this. I don't wanna be a sourpuss but I assume that the questions are pretty much all Hollywood productions from the 80s, 90s and 2000.
They look good enough for the game. Might consider picking this up someday, especially if there's expansions and other games (Buzz...) coming as well.
Come on, kids. Jump in.
Steve: So wanna play some Halo 3?
Dave: No way man. Let's play Scene it?!
Steve: What's Scene it? Can you teabag in it?
Dave: Oh Steve, you're such a f***** noob.
Thats really interesting. I mean $60 for a game + 4 controllers. It's like SingStar $50 for game + 2 mics when Konamis Karaoke Revolution was $60 for game+ 1 mic.
@Sailorcancer: Would you rather they price it at $70? Because that's what I was expecting. They're not going to go all the way down to $50, so why is it not okay for them to sell it at $60 with FOUR controllers (as silly as they look)?
@Moonshadow101 and rickster77 and= jip100:
I wouldn't say it's a rip-off of Buzz. Scene It? was released in board game form in 2002 and Buzz! came out in 2005. The 360 game plays almost just like the board game but it's a better experience overall since everyone can answer on their own without passing the DVD remote around.
In my opinion all of those DVD based games feel somewhat broken. We got a few that are just a DVD without a board like Scene It? for Christmas a year or so ago and they haven't even been opened.
...speaking of, has anyone actually played through the game on the "300" HD-DVD? I started it for a second just to see what it was but didn't try playing. It's like a turned based/advanced wars/risk type of game I think.
@PeonCulture:
I didn't see your post before I made mine. Glad someone else pointed out the 2002 thing as well. Not as bad as people saying Guitar Freaks ripped of Guitar Hero though.
For the misinformed. When I say Scene-It is ripping off Buzz! I'm talking about the Big Button Controller, not the actual game. Is it not obvious that the Buzz! controller is being ripped off here? EGM made reference to that a few issues ago. It's so obvious. Sheesh.
Look at this contoller and tell me honestly that Scene-it didn't rip off Buzz!

@Runna:
You've either not 21 yet, or not been to a popular sports bar yet. I'm sure someone here has been to a buffalo wild wings or some variation of bar which has essentially what this is, on multiple TVs throughout the bar with trivia.
I guess the fact that you don't "get it" means Microsoft is doing something right.. as you're obviously not a casual gamer and therefore its to be expected.
I think this is great. Though, I agree the controllers are sort of fisher-price as far as looks are concerned. I may grab it at some point.. would be lots of fun during holiday family gatherings or when hanging out with my girlfriend throwing back a few beers.
so i overheard there's gonna be some DLC for this. sounds pretty promising actually since a lot of these types of games fail at replay value (classic board style)... i.e. taboo, i swear my friends and i have almost all the cards memorized. a taboo game with DLC would be great too, but i guess that's something more useful for the DS since it's a tad more discreet than a television.
this seems like a fun game tho, wished i had an x360 tho =(
the singstar games are pretty good, but i preferred the style karaoke revolution had. every other night there's always people over the dorm playing x version of singstar, karaoke revolution or guitar hero, lol.
so despite how silly the idea of releasing these types of games are, i think it makes for some interesting parties and gatherings. the only gripe i have about this scene it game tho is that it seems like its limited to only 4 players max.
so i think that everyone is overlooking a major downfall. Can these be recharged or do they all take batteries? what a pain it would be to have 4 people and then have one die and not have batteries...
@Runna:
I really hope you're being sarcastic there mate.
@PeonCulture: The original SceneIt was a DVD game. They've nicked the controllers.
@Youlikeyams:
I know it was originally a DVD game. I've played multiple versions of it over the years. But the fact remains that there is very little options on what they can do with a controller for this type of game.
They have 4 options for answers (which corresponds with the original controller for those that don't want to use the packed in ones). They have a buzz-in button, which is pretty standard for many game shows.
What exactly are they supposed to do? Anything they do would have been seen as a "rip off" of Buzz. If people are going to criticize Scene it, then I think they should also criticize 90% of the controllers manufactured in the history of video games, since there is very little room for originality left.
Plus, I could turn around and criticize Buzz for ripping off assorted game shows (computer, tv, or board). It's not like that game was a fountain of originality.
@One_Way_Mule: Some thing to talk about... thats all! I'm in between games right now.
Hey cool! I just wanted to see who would take up for it. I've been to bars and this type of thing is ok at the bar when you are waiting on some one.
I don't really care how it does or what it's about yet it does look damn funny! I can see people maybe... maybe buying a arcade xbox 360 for this but really come on guys? Hey at least it is a step!
So who thinks this is going to take on sing star in europe?
@phrequency: You are so true about the party thing, yet you know what would be cooler... a sing star for the xbox with online play and a camera!
I guess the problem is Karaoke is not that big around here and is more of some thing we do to break the ice.
Well time to get my war on... slow week end... for Ko it seems.
I wonder what the xbox fan boys have to say about this?
I just want a successor to You Don't Know Jack dammit! To all the people who pooh-poohed the controllers, it seems like you don't have friends with which to play this game. Get four people and four buzzers and you have a night of great fun- no knowledge of what an analog stick is required.
@JRyder:
I don't kow what you're getting at. BUt I thought it was a good idea for them to sell it like that. I mean who in the hell is going to by this game if they sell it for $70?
Besides Wii owners.
Just wait. some modder will add joysticks to this and make it an actual controller some day.
@UnJamma6096: Hahaha, I definitely have to see that. I can't wait to play Mass Effect with the big button.
I might buy it when i find out how much the DLC costs.. If a "new" game (different version, i.e. disney's scene it, etc) costs anywhere near $30, then it would be totally useless to me.. I would just buy the regular Scene It? games instead.. I just dont think the big-button controllers are really worth it.. Also, i dont think i will get into the fact that you only have four choices to answer with. That makes the game too aweful easy, because I am usually sitting there stuck trying to remember what something is. If i have mult. choice, I will probably be able to get it much m
