Don't want to wait until next year or pay completely hideous import prices to get your PlayStation 3 rumble on? Well over at Success HK they've just put up Dragon Electronics' Duo Shock 4 controller for sale. It's a 3rd party Dual Shock controller that works with the PS3, PC, PS2, and the PSone, all thanks to a USB to PS2 port wireless adapter. Sure, you'll have a dongle hanging off the front of your PS3, but it will make your controller vibrate pleasantly, and isn't that all you really need? The biggest plus? It's only $16.77 to order one! The downside? How much controller can you actually get for only $16.77? I don't think I have to say buy at your own risk here, because I believe in you people.

$16.77 for a new wireless controller? I say no buy!
but what about the sixaxis feature? is that included as well? or is it essentially a cheap wireless ps2 controller for the ps3?
meh, I'll stick with the old Six-Axiz.. any word on how much official DS3 controllers are going to go for?? probably $50-60 :\
@feegore:
From what I've read, that wouldn't be much of a loss!
Damnit, where is the Zero controller?! That thing was awesome at E3...and felt much more like the 360 than the darned meh-feeling sixaxis.
I'd be worried about anything that's title suggests that a majority of its sales are going to be driven by consumer confusion.
If you actually buy a PS3, for $599, you might as well buy the best controller.

no mention of sixaxis. (that probably costs 2 dollars more).
They do however mention (in the function list) that you can play PS3 games on a PS3 system, PS2 games on a PS2 system and PC games on a PC. Great!
It's probably made of lead, and runs off of uranium.
$10 says the thing gives you arthritis.
@CONVERGE: That also gets you a good deal on the controller. With the extra money you could buy some bayer.
I've had 2 of these for a few months now, I actually got it for my PS2 cos there were no decent wireless controllers around and after using my 360 i couldnt stand controller cables any longer!!
I think the build quality is pretty damn close to the Dualshock, the rumble isnt quite as hard/heavy but it works very well, the analog is excellent and you can choose from quite a few frequencies so it doesnt compete with your wireless or your microwave ;)
I too was expecting it to be pretty shitty but I was very pleasantly surprised..
It also dropped in price a bit as well..
There has to be something terribly wrong with that controller.
I'd get it if it had better triggers than the Sixaxis
I'd hit it.
@mikeeb13: Believe it's closer to 70-80.
Why is it that unofficial third party PS3 controllers don't seem to have any SIXAXIS functionality yet? I got the Logitech PS3 controller and it's great, so much heavier and more comfortable than my dinky little SIXAXIS, but I can't use it to play Folklore, rendering it kinda useless.
That being said, this could be a good deal for games like Ninja Gaiden, Warhawk, Uncharted, and R&C that don't require the SA at all. But my budget is insanely tight for now...I'll just wait for the DS3 to launch in the States.
Wait - does this mean that if I use my PS2->USB adapter with my PS3, then I can have rumble using my old DualShock2 controllers?
I need to try this out.
@johnhummel: No, that idea won't work. Usually, the manufacturer has to make their product work with what ever console they're building for. Note in the article, it said that the controller is made to be used for the PS3, PS2, etc., but on the other hand, your controller most likely won't work like that. I mean if it did, everyone would be using their Dualshock 2's instead of waiting, importing, or relying on this cheap make of a dualshock.
Speaking of controllers I just got back from a store and they had New PS2 controllers from SONY not a third party. Their called Katana ones regular wired ($20) but the other was Wireless with rumble ($30). It's just strange I was surprised to see them. I thought maybe it had something to do with the immersion lawsuit. Finally in the year 2007 I can get a Sony PS2 wireless controller.

i'll pick up two for player 3 and player 4
hehe
@ Mikeeb13: I just picked one up late last week. With tax, it came out to 5500 yen...which is about 50 bucks. I'm guessing when they do get released in the States, it'll be about the same.
That being said, this could be a good deal for games like Ninja Gaiden, Warhawk, Uncharted, and R&C that don't require the SA at all.
@Archaotic: I can only speakfrom experience for Warhawk and R&C, but I am under the impression that in games that utilize Sixaxis, there is an option to turn it off and use the sticks.
I told you someone would release a 3rd party DS3 soon, but people doubted me. :P
@not_tom_brokaw:
Sadly, not for every game. Folklore requires it, as do several other games. Warhawk and R&C can certainly toggle it off, which is something I did for both. :D
@Kinburn: holy crap I just saw 'em. pretty damn cool. I'll pick one up.
@Archaotic: I feel that that's poor design on those games' parts, then. As much as I'd love the whole "let's use this technology in our game" way of thinking, if it's not the ONLY way all the games on a system are played (like the Wii, for example) there should be a workaround.
I think many of you forgot one tiny little issue, if you plan playing a PS3 game with this, there still is no rumble, since all PS3 games don't have a vibration feature.
completely hideous import prices
I will have you know that importing the Dualshock 3 from yesasia is cheaper than buying a regular SixAxis from a shop here in Denmark.
It was shipped yesterday by the way, can't wait!
nah. it probably would make Lair controls crappy...oh wait.
