Speaking with Konami reps at Comic Con today, I pestered marketing VP Anthony Crouts about Konami USA bringing over the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Collection. Crouts confirmed that they're "considering it" with the sales team talking to retailers about potential interest in selling such a package. "Would it be the same package?" I asked. "Very similar," he responded.
That package, which contains the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and DVDs Metal Gear Saga and The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 is now available in Japan and runs a very modest 6250 yen.
Interested? Then demand (or ask politely) that Konami USA bring the package overseas at all costs. Even if you're not interested, just lie. Your Metal Gear loving peers will appreciate your support.

what about the NES MEtal Gear? or the comics? or the MGS4 added!?!? I think id pay 150$ for that type of collection, but i know Im asking allot... so
Thats a kool collection :)
I already got all those games still original copies heh.... but guess it would be neat bundle for some.
I just want confirmation that were getting Portal Ops+
Wait, I just put 6250 yen into a converter, and it came to $50, that can't be right. Can someone back up/debunk this?
Looks cool. I'd buy it if it ever does make it stateside.
sweet deal
@Crunshii:
It says that it includes the original metal gear and metal gear 2.
@olion597: Consider the price confirmed. Well, sort of. ¥6900, rather than ¥6250, so more along the lines of $60. But that's still an incredible bargain, and it's such a nice package!
@olion597:
Yeah, it's going to be ridicously cheap. If it ever comes to Europe, I'm getting it. Never played any MGS games. :P
BTW, if I recall, Ryan confirmed that MGS2 and MGS3 are the complete versions (MGS3 is MGS3: Subsistence).
And I'd like to add that finally, a company has realized that: If it's cheap to produce, sell it cheap, and it will sell a LOT.
This is a definitive purchase and will help in increasing the MGS fanbase before MGS4.
Konami, DO IT!:D
Sign me up... I love all that schwag
This would be great for someone like me who played the first Metal Gear and is really looking forward to the 4th but has never had the time to pick up MGS 2 or 3
@Kyle81:
It's in there.
I'd buy it. It looks like a good deal for any Metal Gear Fan. It is a smart move adding only canon Megal Gear games so everbody can live the story... I guess.
Judging by the pictures, I'd say they're for the Playstation 2. Hmm... Not ready for a 360 or a ps3 release of the set?
release it for the wii or 360 then ill be interested.
Damn, I'm a sucker for limited edition packaging. BRING IT!
@Devr:
It won't be cheap by the time it gets to europe. Have you learnt nothing of how the game industry and europe works?
@Yoshi3gg: @Devr:
Wow! This better come stateside then, it would sell like DS's!
I've never owned a MGS game in my entire life so this collection would definetly help me catch up with the MGS universe.
I think I own all, or most of those games, but I would buy this in a heartbeat if it came to the US.
@mowh: From my understanding, the 20th anniversary package does not contain the Portable Ops + expansion
I'd buy it even thought I don't have a PS2. I got into MGS from playing MGS2 on my cousin's PS2 a few years back, then when MGS3 came out I bought it for him for Christmas. (for myself) The only MGS game that is really MINE would be portable ops. I guess I'll just take my cousin's PS2 since he doesn't use it anymore and only plays his xbox 360.
I wish they had included Twin Snakes. If I was going to play MGS again, I'd rather have the version in which I can tell what the hell I'm looking at.
@Havok154:
Yeah I would prefer Twin Snakes as well. or both :) It's hard to play the PSone version these days. Just looks so bad. And the framerates of those old games really suck.
Seeing how the game sells better over here, it'd be their loss if they didn't bring it to America.
If they put it on blu-ray they could fit it on one disc.
WANT.
I would love to have that go stateside.
I've only played MGS3:Sub and MPO.
I want to know the whole story by playing it, and not reading it.
This is the package Ive been waiting for, it will be mine.....but where's Subsistance? it's not included. oh, hell, it will be mine anyway.
I am pretty sure Ryan confirmed it was Subsistence.
I'd buy that for $60-$70. Hell yeah.
would we get the final versions of the games - MGS 2: Substance & MGS3: Subsistence? if so, count me in.
man, i'd buy this package in a heartbeat. heck, I'd pre order it. and i rarely pre order stuff.
please don't make them too limited though. i want to be sure i get my grubby hands on this stuff lol.
If Portable Ops is on this, is it a PS2 playable version?
And would you be able to save to a PS2 memory card w/ MGS1?
Minor concerns, really, since I'd slap money down for this if it came stateside in a heartbeat, but if they did those two little things I'd be the happiest Solid Snake fan in the world.
I have been hoping this would come to North America since I first heard about it. Damn thats some sweet packaging, Hopefully we North America gets some awesome packaging for MGS4.
This sounds like a cool idea to do a few months before mgs 4 as it would help people get updated on mgs before 4 :).
Bring it over Konami!! i'll buy it! i want to get into the whole MGS story before part 4 comes out. :)
@Havok154: Wouldn't they need to port it over and ask for permission from Silicon knights to do that?
I'm actually shaking from excitement! Man, I'm so happy! ^_^!
I have all the games already.....but i would totally buy that pack if it was released here.
Oh, and Thank you Mcwhertor for this information, really made my day!
How does Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake work? The NES/MSX version? Weren't these two included in the Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence package?
I own all of these games, except Portable Ops, no PSP, but I would buy it for collecting purpose if it was around $50-60.
I got my Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance signed by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa when they were here in LA, so this would be nice for my collection. [img232.imageshack.us]
@SleepyBum: It's probably the same version as the one included with subsistence. That came on a seperate disc, right?
This is for the PS2?
@IAMDUDE70:
Well since Konami owns the rights to the games and SK just developed the title for them, I don't see why they would ask them for anything. The porting part? I want the GC version, I don't need all the games to be for the same system, I own them all anyway.
@SleepyBum: "...Substance signed by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa..."
*head explodes*
In other news, very awesome.
I want this so badly. Please come to North America.
@Havok154: Well wouldn't they need to remove the logos and things from the game? I wish the GC version was included in the package as well, but too bad we will probably never see that happen. Hell, we should be happy enough if the game came to North America.
@Crunshii:
The comics and DGNs would be nice, but why the hell would you want the cut up, edited NES version of Metal Gear when they already give you the full original MSX version?
I would buy this just for the collector of Metal Gear stuff in me.
But would the PS2 games work in a PS3? Or would they be hopelessly garbled like so many others? Have people had good luck playing old MGS PS2 titles on the PS3 (I have a PS3 but missed the PS2 boat and would like to catch up with the franchise)...
Where are we supposed to request this? I would give my kidneys for this to come state side. That and the FF7 PSP. XD
@GettinMyGooseOn: Was just playing Okami ten minutes ago, Odin Sphere the other day, and Metal Gear Solid 3 after a rousing session of Portable Ops a week ago all with out a problem.
