As previously mentioned, Jasman Toys has found an unoccupied seat on the Halo merchandising bandwagon, bringing replicas of the Covenant plasma rifle and Pistol to a Hot Topic near you this fall. A Covenant energy sword replica will also be available sometime in 2008. The details were clearly spelled out in our previous update on the subject, but a recent Q&A with Jasman Toys reveals more about the guns and their laser tag gameplay.
Following rules similar to the Halo video game, players will have "shields" that can be recharged with the guns mimicking the Covenant weapons' tendency to overheat with excessive use. Each comes with a wearable sensor that will register hits as well as inform players of when their table at Chili's is ready.
No word on how the energy sword will factor into the real-life gameplay, but I foresee plenty of broken swords and wounded LARPers.
