Hmm. I already have both the original games. And that looks like a lot of waggle going on in those fight scenes. So much so it borders on flailing. Cheers, Lucasarts, but I might sit this one out.

I'm guessing he's overdoing it. Kind of like throwing your Wii-mote into the TV while bowling: it's possible to do it that way, but not really necessary for the game.
Has it occurred to anyone that you could get RSI from playing the Wii too much
hmm.. he's a little over eager. reminds me when I started playing zelda. you learn to be much more efficient in your game play...
shoot hire me to demo games. this guy apparently extends that expected learning curve =P.
but this game and that lcd has just convinced me to by a projector... I want myself an immersive 70 inch screen =P
Ughhhh... waggle is the new button mashing. Can't we get a little more creative here? I don't want to shake my damn controller every 30 seconds.
If he isn't overdoing it, then... ugh.
Eww, no thanks. That waggle control looks horrible.
My guess is he's overdoing it. It looks like a pretty good system, otherwise...
You can play the game without the waggle. What the waggle does is increase the speed at which you swing the lightsaber, as well as how quickly you use the force.
I will agree, though, that it looks exagerated. I saw the same thing for the Pirates of the Caribean demo.
For some reason the video isn't poping up for me. D:
I feel so bad for game developers who get stuck with the job of creating these lego games. Its like babysitting your wife's bastard child. Who buys these games besides wierd aunts for their nephews at christmas?
With all of the potential IPs of today, some rich son-of-a-bitch smeared legos with George Lucas. If I could just understand why. Why?!?
@Shane-Meh: 1UP network has been iffy all week. Give it a few hours and they should have it back up.
@BabyJesus: Your life sounds so sad. Before you understand LEGO LucasArts, you should first understand yourself. Help is available.
@sxp151:
Hey man take it easy I'm just askin..
Do you play them?? Why?!?
@BabyJesus: They're fun. I like Star Wars, and I like this twist on them. Each episode has a cute conceit parodying something from the movies. The games are easy and relaxing, and I like collecting all the stuff. But most importantly, they're fun. Why would that be hard to understand?
@sxp151:
Because its Lego man.. and its corny...
@BabyJesus: Did you play with LEGO's as a child? I have many fond memories of constructing vast citadels, and then waging wars between the normal figures and the deformed figures I would mash together from the variety of body parts I had.
Are you implying there's something wrong with LEGO? And as for it being 'corny' that's the point, the cheese if you will, the campyness of a LEGO Star Wars game. It's not SERIOUS BUSINESS here, not every game has to have an adult plot with violence and cussing, it's just good fun.
@BabyJesus:
Dude, I think when he said you should understand yourself first, it's because your username is "BabyJesus." :P
(You know, that whole spiel about finding/understanding Jesus Christ? Yah...)
Legos make BabyJesus cry? And all this time I thought it was lies.
Baby Jesus cries for your lies and dies for your sins.
Cheer up, emo kid.
I still want the 360 version for the online coop, I suppose the "waggle" might be less prominent in that version.
@ShadowFFVI:
Has it been confirmed that the Wii version will NOT have online play?
BabyJesus:
You need to stop taking things that people write as comments on blogs personally. It's the freakin' internet.
Just as Alex Rose once said that internet fame is the most dubious kind of fame, internet insulting is the most pathetic and useless kind of insulting.
When I read flamewars like the one you nearly started, I think to myself, "Self, do you see these buffoons? Do you think they would ever work up the gumption to say that sort of thing to an actual live person within punching distance?"
Don't take stuff personally and don't get worked up about stuff on the internet.
SXP15 and Keldan: Very good. Way to make points without resorting to juvenile histrionics. I'm serious. Most people on the internet can learn a lesson or two from you guys (or possibly gals - I'm just saying...it's a possibility). I say that without any sarcasm or facetiousness.
@BabyJesus:
Is it Ban Monday yet?
Waggle! One of the many problems I have with the Wii, the waggle controls inserted in games often serve no purple of something that can be done easier with a button press. If the controls were something a bit realistic sure, cool.... but to many games are just shake controller games which pretty much kills the point of the wiimote.
I'
I'd like to watch... but it's in GameVideos... (you know... doesn't work with embed videos...)
@BabyJesus:
oh yeah i forgot, i should deny myself pleasure because others migth think im corny.
great way to live life. :)
From what I could tell from the video, it seems he was conciously exaggerating some of the wiimote actions to demonstrate which movements of the controller did which specific actions, such as the spin attack, jump attack and horizontal and verticle slashes with the lightsaber.
I will admit, however, that I am guilty of "flailing" as well on occassion. I have found that during more intense moments of action, my gestures become less restrained as I get into the game.
On a side notes, has anyone seen any gameplay footage of blaster using characters? I was wondering how the aiming system would work with the wiimote, whether there would be an autoaim system in place or an actual targeting reticule you can move around with the wiimote.
Is it possible on the Wii to have accurate 1-on-1 controls? If it is, this aint it, but I know for certain that the first game that really nails it will be the biggest blockbuster this gen.
Well, this doesn't seem too bad actually! I think (as well as the others) that he's a bit too hasty and overacting. That leads to the conclusion that these controls could be pretty entertaining. Reproducing what you do with the remote to the lightsaber is quite awesome.
I've never played any of the LEGO SW games before and have always wanted to, so would it be wrong of me to assume that "The Complete Saga" means all the games are in this one package?
As for the waggle let's just hope that, like RE4, there will be an option to use the GCN controller, or even classic controller if you want. That makes a pretty enticing package if you get the best of both (really all)worlds...
I think it's almost safe to say that if you can't sit down and play a good round of Lego Star Wars and understand why it's fun, there's no chance in hell that you could take a Mario game seriously.
One's response would be, "This is too corny for me."
Flaggeling ?
This is not the lightsaber game I wanted. Make them stop.
@ ALEX4ALLOFYOU
Yeah the Wii is capable of one-to-one controls - it was done very well in baseball on Wii Sports of all things.
I agree with you about such a game being a big hit - imagine a Jedi Knight II type game with one2one lightsaber action!
The power of the force can only be harnessed by waggle. It's in the Star Wars: Ultra Super Awesome Special Edition Director's Cut Somebody Stop Him Already.
@Astrodust:
This is the lightsaber game I want. Please continue.
1:1 Lightsaber Controls FTW!
@Kyle81:
What? The waggle controls won't work for me? That's so not fair...
Aww... poor purple. No wii for you!!
Looks like fun.
You guys do remember why we play video games?
I was kind of looking forward to this, but this isn't exactly the kind of Lightsabre-Wiimote game I was looking for. Plus, the dude is totally spazzes out to play this.
I already have LSW2 for x360, and I don't need the first game...
if they showed it with baster combat and a few more platforms i would belive it to be coming on systems other than x-box 360,wii and THOSE SYSTEMS THAT ARE SO A RIP OFF FOR WHAT THEY ACTULLY DO
