It looks like that German mag had it right, THQ is bringing student Indie game project De Blob to the Wii. As you can see from this gameplay video, you move around a blob of paint absorbing colors and then smacking against buildings (likely with the remote) to change the structure into the building you currently are. Looks like it has potential, but its success is really going to depend on its delivery and level design. Right now I'm just seeing a really cool idea. De Blob [Jeux France]

Wow, looks really good and addictive! Wonder how it will use the Wiimote.
EWWWWW!! he's leaving his bodily matter all over the place, where's the disinfectant.
Game looks interesting, what was this again a downloadable title?
Definately looks like it could be fun in a Katamari type of way if it's done well. I think it will largely depend on how the controls work.
I like the concept, but I hope you can mix colors to create new ones instead of just "Hey, here's this yellow box, let's be yellow instead of red."
I see this as a "Breath of fresh air" cause the market is flooded with FPS and racers...
Game looks awesome, all it needs is musid that rivals (while at the same time differentiates itself from) Katamary Damacy
Looks much better then the free download version, I might get it.
I like the whole concept of bringing color to a lifeless world. Maybe I'll go get a Wii.
Oh, Jesus. Now they're forcing me to choose between this and Dewy's Adventure. Why, God? I mean, you can't buy both, can you? It's like... Cuteness to the XTREME!
@Digitalguardian: At the end of the video it looks like he becomes purple from combining blue and red. He is red and takes the blue container and becomes purple.
Looks really cool to me. I might buy it at a budget price. Pretty awesome that students can get a game published though.
IGN has a great piece up about this game with a lot of videos and hands-on impressions. It's not coming out until March of next year, so everything is very early in development.
Holy crap, I had an idea to make a game where there was no colors, only ambient occlusion, and once again someone else does it before me!
@Zim: Yeah, in the demo version you have red, blue, and yellow, and you can combine them to get orange, purple, green, and brown. It goes something like:
red+blue->purple, +red->red, +yellow->orange, +blue->brown, +yellow->yellow.
Beyond those 7 colors, there's not much.
The platforming seems much more intricate than in the download version, although the "stopping to talk to characters to get missions" seems a bit silly.
I know the school the developers attend, and i must say i'm pleasantly surprised. The school also has a quality music department, and i can't wait what they have in store if they come out with "bigger" projects. Combining talent in their various departments could lead to some interesting results. The next Jesper Kyd is just waiting to be born there.
i like i like i like
@Ether_Snake: I had a similar idea too. This sucks, doesn't it? If I ever produce it, I'll be labeled a de blob rip-off.
Looks like a blast, and I love games that alter the landscape through play.
I'm glad this hasn't turned out to be just a port of the free game. I have to say I really like the added mobility and the environments seem more considered.
I may invest.
woah. wasn't expecting to like that.
My only question is how do you market this game? It's like JSRF, Katamari, Mario Sunshine, Pleasantville, Mario Paint had a drunken orgy and this is the bastard child.
Really nice visuals.
@Marasai: See, the ad writes itself.
@Digitalguardian: You can mix colors - on IGN they have an article up about how the game plays an stuff and the history behind it.
@CrimemasterGogo: I agree, it does look nice, but the textures could probably be upped in some places.
It looks cool and all, but sadly, it's another one of those games that uses a flick upward like an 'A' button and uses the nunchuck analog stick to move left and right. I'm still waiting for that one game to really give me something different on my Wii.
i'm interested. looks pretty innovative (not just another mini game!) and i think some really catchy music would be awesome.
PS where is my Mario Paint for the Wii already?
@Marasai: Heck, I work at a game store and I can't even sell Katamari alone.
Wow, that looks truly interesting. I'll be sure to keep tabs on this one.
As much potential as this has and ive been watching since i heard rumors, the gameplay itself does still look really boring.
It's not like it's this empty world and if you work hard for a long time you can make it look like viva pinata, you're just smacking against buildings and they fill themselves up with color.
Do not waste this awesomeness by not giving depth!
@Gamemaster: You forgot about Dog Island. D=
Yeah, I'm diggin' this game. I'm a sucker for anything quirky.
Would control well with the Sixaxis AMIRITE!?
@Digitalguardian: Course, that way you'd end up being brown...
I thought this was an adaptation of the classic horror movie! :( Oh well, still looks good.
This has potential at being actually fun! I agree that it does look like it will need a bit more depth. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
Looks totally awesome!
I loved the little PC game, this is looking so much better.
It's like Tony Hawk meets black and white blob!
I WANT IT!
This game kinda looks like anti-Super Mario Sunshine. I looks like a lot of fun!
Anyone who is interested, here is a link to the original PC version.

Awesome game, but I see they made a lot of changes to the game from the PC version.
I wasn't digging it until the very end when he was smashing those black things. The squishing and screaming noises were cool. Oh, who am I kidding, I'm just still bummed about Banhunt 2 for Wii, I probably shouldn't take it out on this game.
@Marasai: You beat me. I was going to say that this looked liked an excellent bridge between Katamari and Jet Grind Radio.
Do effing want, for sho sho.
