This morning, Mini Bash ingested the above "pizza bread." Pokémon bread isn't so unusual here in Japan, but this was the first time that I'd seen Pokémon pizza bread. And it didn't disappoint — it had the standard Japanese pizza topping: corn. What is it with pizzas here and corn? And mayo?

Comments
Mayo isn't too bad, it kind of goes with anything... But corn? :s
Ashcraft you find the zaniest things.
Related to pokemon that is. ;D
Do we really need to know about every single game related cake and every single game related food packaging?
That's nothing. In Thailand I had ICE CREAM with corn on it.
You've obviously never had a chicken/corn/sour-cream pizza. Trust me, it'll make your mouth have an orgasm.
Next time you're in SF I'll hook you up with one. It's Pizza Orgasmica and they deliver across the city. :)
@H_Chinaski: Oh yeah in Japan there is icecream with eel bone in it. People say its crunchy. D:
what is it with the pokémons?
( I started Diamond yesterday =), My Pokemans, let me show you them )
@GeneralZod: Dont like it dont read it.
@Witzbold:
I'm pretty open minded when it comes to trying new foods, but that's just too much for me. I'd try the eel bone by itself, sure, but why people gotta go fucking up ice cream?
@H_Chinaski: Tell me about it. D:
Well over here in Japan we get a lot of weird shit in food.
My chinese grandfather would have thrown a fit if he was still alive to see the so called "chinese food dish" Ebi-Mayo. Shrimp Mayonaise.
Its not half bad tasting but I must say its by far from authentic chinese like the restaurants claim it is.
i like corn....that's all i gotta say about that subject....
On a separate note, at times corn comes out in my poop!
Yay fiber!
Ok totally terrible,(semi) random comment of the day.
Corn on pizza isn't such a weird topping. But mayo? People should be arrested for such blasphemies.
@Witzbold
Its sat on the front page how am I supposed to not see it? If there is some filter that allows me to stop all the "HAY YOU GUYS LOOK AT THIS MARIO CAKE THAT LOOKS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE I POSTED TWO HOURS AGO" posts then please tell me where to find it.
@Ethereus: Try fried shrimp @ tartar sauce.
Its the newest creation of Pizza Hut Japan. D:
@GeneralZod: Just pass it over.
The only thing comments like yours will amount to is a swift ban for being a prick.
Complaining about stuff on a gaming blog.
Now that takes the breakfast pizza.
It's Japan. Even the weather report features Pikachu . I'm surprised that you find food that DOESN'T have video game characters on it.
I won't be impressed until I can drink PokePepsi.
Oh man, I remember when I lived in japan and went to a Domino's. They had something called the "sunriser pizza" which looked like a badass breakfast pizza.
It had egg, potatoes, corn, sausage... and nothing but mayo instead of pizza sauce, quite the hidden treat. It was disgusting. Apparently, the Japanese really think we Americans like our mayo...
Ah, pre-buttered slices of bread were also something I've seen in Japan too. Surprised we don't have that here actually.
I remember when my host family ordered pizza for me once when I was in Japan, and when I saw it, I was thinking, "what the heck is this?" Although, I vaguely remember Shakey's Pizza being pretty good.
That said, going to Universal City Studios in Osaka and getting some good ol', greasy, American-style pepperoni pizza was awesome.
Pokemon as a game? Kinda meh.
Pokemon as a breakfast pizza? Pure gold.
Gotta eat 'em all! Yay to childhood obesity!
@GeneralZod: Look to the right. What do you see? It's called a scroll-bar, so use it and move on.
I personally, think it's great we get to see all the weird and wonderful videogame related food that Ashcraft and minibash ingest.
Its a weird Euro thing too. My city has a huge Polish and Slavic immigrant population and they ALL cover everything with Mayo. French Fries, Pretzels, dipping sauce for pizza, you name it.
Put it on my turkey sandwich, put it on my chicken sandwich, pasta salad ok... but jesus christ its OIL AND EGGS, STOP PUTTING IT ON EVERYTHING YOU IDIOTS!!!!!
I want this Japanese Pizza in North America: http://www.pizzahut.jp/whatsnew/026_060306_jamanking/
Mayo grosses me out to no end, unless it's in tuna, then game on.
@Kinburn: All I have to say about that pizza is...wow.
@Kinburn: If you look on that page they also have something called "Mayo Pork"
@Kinburn: My god...so much meat! I don't think I can handle that.
Japanese mayo on pizza is awesome... I regularly put it on pizzas I order...
then again I regularly put Japanese Mayo on almost anything savory...tis the god condiment
In Osaka a couple weeks ago the friends we were visiting decided it was pizza night. They threatened to order crazy-ass Japanese pizza, but when it arrived it all seemed pretty normal to me. Turns out they'd restrained themselves... I was kind of disappointed!
Is Japanese Mayonaise different? are there different ingredients?
I can't paticularly say I'd appreciate regular Mayo on Pizzas (sounds a bit too fat laden for me considering all the cheese) but I'm interested to know the difference (if any).
In HK I went to a Pizza Hut and for a sauce they had thousand island. That was a bit weird.
I do like that I had something different to try but would not eat it again.
@TokeYo: Yeah Japanese mayo is more creamy. It doesnt have as much fat in it, or at least it doesnt seem like it.
Totally different from american mayo.
Its not too bad. Just that the people here love putting it on EVERYTHING.
Also its rather scary, you can leave it out and somehow it still stays ok. Well I dont know for a whole day or what not, but some places seem to leave it out for quite a while.
Do pokemon condoms exists??
I like the corn :). The mayo a little less.
@TokeYo: It's very different taste wise...main ingredient difference is it uses rice vinegar rather than distilled vinegar for normal mayo
@Witzbold: Nothing wrong with putting it on everything ^_^...but yeah it's shelf life does scare me a little...I've never ever seen the stuff go off and that includes leaving it sitting around in 40c heat for days(or longer)....like I said it's the god condiment it can't go bad :P
Gotta love companies that put logos and characters on their products, but don't actually change anything...
