Amazon.com's Deal of the Day is often pretty crappy, but today they're actually listing something worth having for all you Gamecube owners. Today's special is the GC version of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for a mere $32.99. It's available with their free Super Saver Shipping if you don't mind waiting a couple of extra days, which, if you've waited this long to get it, probably isn't an issue.

So, Nintendo is now back-porting games for extra profit?
It's kind of ingenious when you think about it.
and the gamecube is where it should have stayed.
tempting, but I still refuse to get it until I can finally get myself a Wii to play it on.
@PapaBear434: If profiting in the games industry is your concern. You've got the wrong hobby. Secondly, if you didn't already know, the wii and cube releases were near simultaneous.
32.99? Its 39 at the store...not worth it.
And I never liked RPG's/Adventure games.
And to think I almost bought this at Gamestop today.
@poematik14: 2 things: 1) What store? 2) I'm having a hard time understanding how saving $7 (+ tax you'd pay at the store if you have sales tax) for doing absolutely nothing (except waiting a few days for the game, I guess?) is "not worth it." Really, it's free money. By the very definitions of "free," "money," and "worth," that's worth it.
@poematik14: Thanks for letting us know that you are not interested in Zelda. I'm sure Kotaku will take that into consideration next time they post about a deal.
@Pyrthas: You have a very weird definition for "free." The $7 isn't "free" by definition because you have to spend $33 to get it. By that logic, you could get a free $33 by simply not buying the game. Look at that, I just gave you $33. Free.
So why didn't they pick a game people had heard of before?
@HarmanSmith:
Joke. Funny. Haha.
I bought this back in January, I really need to get around to beating it.
Why did Amazon get rid of the deal box where it would discount items that were related to the items you purchased and why did they stop giving you an extra little bit off for using the a9 browser? Does anyone still use a9 now that it doesn't get you a discount? (granted, I would just use it once a day to go to mlb.com just so I could get the little bit of extra discount)
Meh, I have a Wii, played the crap out of TP and already sold it. Lmao... I guess this deal isn't for me.
^ (Sold my TP copy, not the Wii)
hah! got the wii version at zellers in canada for $20. There was a misprint in the paper ad but all the stores sold 2 Wii or gamecube games for $40
I played on GC and it truly is a terrific game (even if I did have to kinda rush through it in a week before I got my 360).
But I suppose there is a strong arguement with waiting until you get a Wii. After all, with Zelda already completed, there is not a single title available at the moment that would influence me to buy the Wii.
Will have to wait until another triple A title comes along then (waits for Galaxy / Brawl / euro realease of Paper Marion)
@Segaholic2: You were comparing Amazon's price to the price of the game in another store (which you still haven't specified). I was assuming that we were talking about a person who had already decided to buy the game, and was now looking for the best price.
Of course, you're spending money either way. Let's be more precise, then: Your bank account will have $7 more dollars in it (plus tax) than it would have had otherwise with absolutely no effort on your part. I still fail to see how this isn't worth it, assuming, as we are, that you've already decided to purchase the game.
@PapaBear434:
back porting? It was originally slated for the GCN...
@PapaBear434: they were released at the same time.
Amazon does have a good idea with putting the GC version of the Twilight Princess on sale. Most new gamers would opt for the Wii version, but gamers not ready to move onto the Wii would purchase the game in a format that they are more suitable with.
Amazon would probably do this to liquidate the stock of Twilight Princess for GC.
@poematik14: No one wants to hear about how you don't like RPG/Adventure games just because you don't have the intellect to play through one without a guide or hack.
@danjo1: Is it true that in Canada, they were selling some sort of collectible Zelda coins inside of cases of the Wii version of Twilight Princess? I was going to buy something like that on eBay, but I thought it was kinda wierd that the coin was inside of the case for the game.
@johnny_ultimate: SPM is awesome don't get me wrong, but I think Galaxy, Brawl, Corruption and the other upcoming games will be in a league of their own. I love Super Paper Mario, but it's really more of a thirst quencher while you wait for the REAL triple A titles.
@Laser_iCE:
Joke. Funny. Haha.
-Funny.
Anyway, this deal is good for people who need TP.
worth a rent, but if you are an old ocarina/majora/windwaker fan like me, you'll be bored of it before you beat it anyway....
@PapaBear434:
Joke. Not Funny. -sigh-.
@HarmanSmith: Finally! someone who agrees with me!
@ascii42: i was wondering that too...did anyone just kinda put this game down for a while?
i dont get it, its a zelda game, its great. but im at the water temple and i just kinda took a break & havent come back...was wondering if it was just me. I too need to see this one thorugh, christ knwos i went through Majora's fucking Mask so its not like this should be the hardest of the lot.
Now with no waggle!
@Laser_iCE:
Maybe you should, I don't know, grow a sense of humor.
@TheIrishNinja: You owe it to yourself to finish, if not just for the final boss fight. It might be way to easy, but just link and gannon dueling in a circle is great stuff
@TheIrishNinja
I did that to Final fantasy 5, 7, and 9! (though it doesn't have anything to do with the topic.. yeah)
It's a good deal if you worship Zelda. If you're tired of playing the exact same game you've played since Ocarina of Time, you may want to wait until the $19.99 price (I paid $49.99 plus tax and can say that I wouldn't pay more than $19.99 if I had it all to do over again). Although, it's exactly like Ocarina with the bonus of Link turning into a dog! I still don't get that one.
At least I didn't spend $250+ for a Wii but I still regret buying TP right when it came out. It isn't worth more than $20 at the most.
@TheIrishNinja: I have the same thing...I just...stopped playing for a while. I guess it's becaues it's so similar to OoT and stuff...I dunno it just feels like I've already played through the game and I don't have to finish it.
@Link_the_Collector: I never found anything in the case that would lead me to believe that. I registered my game with Nintendo and never got anything in the mail, so I would doubt it.
It was too similar to OoT for my liking but its still a good game. I gave up on water temple too (alot of people have) but carry on with it as its still really good. Do you wanna ride down a mountain on an icicle?
Isn't the GC version missing widescreen and progressive scan support? Not worth it if that's the case.
for the zillions of people out there who don't have a wii yet, i'm sure this is indeed worth it. hell...it was worth it when it came out at $50. can't wait for a bonafide wii zelda whenever that comes out
The GC version is only missing widescreen; it does progressive just fine.
@PlaidNinja:
If your big on graphics then your supporting the wrong company.
It has Progressive Scan if you have the first gen game cube.
The only Zelda games I ever finished were Minish Cap and Link's Awakening, but TP still felt very familiar.
I didn't have any problems with the Water Temple, in fact I kind of liked it since I fancy TP's water effects. The temple that made me stop for a couple of weeks was that damn sky temple. It was just soo tedious obtaining and using the double hookshot that I didn't what to look at the game anymore.
@Neon: mebbe youre right,i should see it through.
@fanatism: haha i did that with FF V as well, oddly. it just happens, right?
@Zho: mebbe thats it, i hadnt thought of that.
gonna try it again soon, honest injun. im just so tired of looking for hours for hidden bug/soul pieces as the okami wolf.
