'Portable Heros' - Accessibility for the Modern Gamer

catanheader.jpg

High Dynamic Range Lying has an eloquent take on the accessibility of games for busy people - and by proxy, ease of entry for the non-hardcore gaming set.

... I found myself bringing a DS to work each day, playing RPGs and long sprawling adventures with little hesitation .... At home, the games I now find myself playing on my HDTV are actually not the long sweeping epics I once loved. Now, short multiplayer games, board games, and bite sized downloadable content dominates my library. Circumstance has changed my taste.

Nothing new, but a good read - and a different take on how many people view portable vs. console titles. My DS is taken up with easy to pick up and put down games, while my console is still reserved for those 'long sweeping epics' for the most part. How about yours?
