WWE Sues Jakks, THQ for Watching WWE's Own Shows Too Closely

wrestlingcontract.jpgThe World Wrestling Entertainment group is suing Jakks Pacific over stealing a storyline they've played out too many times in the ring. It's a simple one: a corrupt manager signs a contract that screws his own wrestler(s) in exchange for finanicial, or perhaps feminine, perks.

In this case, the WWE believes they got screwed on their deal to make approximately 80 wrestling games a year when their licensing agent was bribed by Jakks. The agent supposedly "forgot" about better offers from Activision and THQ when reporting back to WWE management, and Jakks won the contract. Jakks eventually partnered with THQ to get the games made, so now THQ is facing having its license revoked despite, by all appearances, only being peripherally involved.

But THQ's weak and appeasing statements in this gamesindustry.biz article about the lawsuit lack drama. There's no talk of "vigorously protecting your rights" or "being made whole" in wrestling! THQ is supposed to parade around the ring with contract in hand, revealing it was part of their plan all along, giving a vociferous, rambling speech about how they totally screwed over the WWE until a "face" sneaks up behind with a folding chair and administers true justice.
