You best believe this is the news of the day: Bone is coming to the DS.
Cocky young upstarts Xider, who are new to the publishing business, will be releasing the PC port later this year. And let me be the first to congratulate them for stepping into this gaping, Lucasarts-shaped hole in the western DS software lineup.
This might even be the better version. No voice-acting (which was...sub-par) and muddier graphics will only help Telltale's point-and-clicker.

I hope they fully pull this off and prove point and click adventures can be done on DS, and encourage Lucasarts to get their rears in gear and give me some Day of the Tentacle on DS >_>
This truly is the news of the day. So awesome.
Mmmmm.....Bone.
Next to Cerebus, this is the greatest comic ever made.
Hell yeah!
This is huge for the DS and Bone fans. I'm still shocked at what a giant following this book has found with the younger set. Kudos to Scholastic for re-releasing this series in print and giving Bone a seemingly never ending extra-life.
@Stratovarius-
Next to Cerebus?! I love Dave Sim and all but that epic tale makes "Lost" look profound. I'd go with something more offbeat like Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library.
Am I the only one thinking: "What the hell is Bone?!"
This is great news!
"Am I the only one thinking: "What the hell is Bone?!""
Do yourself a favor and seek the black and white collection, which features Bone from beginning to end. They're really great, and everyone who's read them and wasn't a book hater really enjoyed the stories.
Win for "Where is Grim Fandango?" tag...and where IS Grim Fandango, dammit?
SWEET! And just today I was playing Trace Memory on my DSL and wishing I could be playing Monkey Island or Grim Fandango or Leisure Suit Larry. The platform works great for point-n-click-on-the-go, but I really think we've worn out the "discovering your past / searching for a missing person" genre. Leave gravity to the dice-tossers, what adventure games need is humour. Telltale/Xider FTW!
One question: isn't the Bone series episodic? How's that gonna work when DS games are supposed to cost $30-35? Are they gonna release compilations, or separately as budget titles? (Do those even exist for DS?)
Stratovarius, kudos to mentioning Cerebus! Bone and Cerebus are my two favorite independent comics. I do have to agree with WaterMedia though; the last 1/3 of Cerebus somewhat....loses it. I would have to rank Bone as above Cerebus.
Now, if one day someone made a Sandman game, I wouldn't know whether to be happy or horrified...
Bone is a fantasy comic that takes a lot from the Walt Disney shorts, from LOTR, and other sources. The art style is good and the plot really moves and it's really both funny and sweet much like those classic Disney material (not the dribble they put out now). Behind Gaiman's the Sandman it's one of my favorite western comics.
Man, this has made my day. I need to re-read this comic and hopefully by the time I finish, it will be time to play this gem on my DS.
Bone = one of the greatest comics ever made.
Bone Adventure Game Demo i played = an "eh" affair. The voice acting kind ofkilled it too.
Wouldn't it be a DS port, if it's ported from PC to DS?
I'M SO CONFUSED!

Someone got their wires crossed this isn't happening!
Thank you Kotaku for making my day, then kicking me in the balls...
Grim Fandango needs a remake, big time.
Bone? I tried the demo, didn't do it for me. It was so incredibly easy, you always knew where to go, and it ended up just being "walk back and forth" and just felt incredibly mindless. I hope they fix the difficulty in this one.
After reading that Wired link and seeing that this isn't happening, I can't say that I'm too disappointed. Bone is such a good comic book, but it made a crappy game.
Actually, I'm not down with Telltale's formula of goofy, unresponsive, action sequences held together by traditional adventuring. They should show they have a pair and just go all-out adventure. Also, episodic games are bullshit.
On the other hand I'd love to see more adventure games on the DS. The system was born for it.
Grim Fandango! On the DS? YES!!
I'd vote for that, except I'm busy looking for the Bone comics.
@Mit:
some kinda dott/maniac mansion combo would be awesome on the ds ^^
YES! This is great news. I love anything Bone related. Er ... "Bone" with a capital "B." The comic. Also, if this is a hit, could it lead to point and click type adventure games making a comeback ... in the form of handhelds? A gamer can hope.
No Bone? (Tears)
Stratovarius, I love you.
...And I love this news, as well.
Is a bootleg of this game a Phony Bone?
