We all know that saddling the PS3 with BLUE LASERS is why the thing's so expensive. However GameDaily are reporting that, according to Sony, said lasers are getting a lot cheaper to build, (it's estimated that by June the world-famous blue laser diodes will only cost $8), and Sony are building a lot more of them, so that can only mean one thing: price cuts. Well, can't it?
Maybe. Keep in mind that just because a company is saving money on production costs doesn't mean it has to pass that saving onto consumers - they could just as easily keep the extra profits themselves. They're in the business of making money, after all.
Then again...every time I walk into a store and see a stack of PS3s going for a few bucks shy of AUD$1000, I form the opinion they might want to start passing that saving on pretty damn fast.
