If I were HD DVD I would be so manic at this point I wouldn't know where to turn. First Microsoft announces a price cut on its Xbox 360 HD DVD player, giving the struggling format a pat on the head and a lollipop, and then Target swoops in and steals the lollipop, shattering it on the ground like so many Christmas dreams with the announcement that Blu-ray players are the only players to grace their shelves this holiday season (although they will still be carrying the 360 HD DVD add-on). The news was delivered in a statement from Sony Corp., who also stated that the retailer would be increasing its stock of Blu-ray movies past the tiny strip of a row all the stores I've been in have carried. Between this and Blockbuster's Blu-ray backage last month, I'm not sure ever a who horde of Heroes will be enough to save HD DVD now.
Target to sell only Blu-ray DVD players [MSN Money - Thanks deejaybd!]
