You may not actually need any of the stuff contained within the BlizzCon goody bag—excepting the hand sanitizer with Blizzard cozy—but I'm sure there are plenty of things in here non-attendees will want. Don't worry, we'll find a way to get rid of all this stuff, from the Diablo button to the Colossus magnet to the World of WarCraft XL t-shirt to the Heroes of Azeroth trading card game starter deck to the beta key. Oops, just kidding. That beta key is mine.
Actually, Blizzard doesn't quite know to which game the beta key applies. Therefore, if it's for Wrath of the Lich King, it's all yours, lucky Kotaku reader.

what you won't give it away if its starcraft 2? :(
You know you are over your WoW addiction when you haven't played in 8 months and the blizzcon swag doesn't get you giddy.
The key applies to Diablo 3, but you've already shipped the package. Now you must go on an action packed adventure to intercept the UPS express flight before it reaches its destination.
Will you succeed with great luck?
You are McWhertor!
@vagrantwade: I've never played WoW and I'm giddy for that swag,
what do the signs mean?!?! :O
ok so what's the next contest?
@Milzo:
Run. Fast. Far. Now.
an interesting observation: On average, WoW-related posts on Kotaku seem to receive less user comments than most other posts. What could be the reason for this? My hypothesis is that those who actually play WoW spend so much time playing it that they don't have either the time/interest/energy to read the industry news. And the rest of us? We simply don't give a sh*t.
I've never played WoW, but it looks kinda fun. Maybe I should give it a shot someday? After all, 9 million players can't be wrong... right?
Mmm, goodies.
@kylenalepa:
Yes. Yes they can.
@kylenalepa:
Dont do it!! you will loose all the people who love you.
@legacyed: For me it's the other way around. I am too busy reading kotaku to play WoW. :)
Wonder what the next contest will be. I missed out on the peter moore one <_<
I lust for that bag, if for nothing else than all the neat artwork thats on everything. Blizzard has great art for everything.
This collection looks like a Greatest Hits collection of stuff GameStop tried to sell at the cashwrap but couldn't move: the Size XL shirts they bought en masse for the Burning Crusade launch, the overabundance of cards no one ever buys, and can't forget those pins.
Where's the high-end merch? They're definitely holding out.
If I change my name to "Lucky Kotaku" will I get beta key? ;)
The only thing out of that sack that I really want is the starter deck for the TCG.
Is it true that they gave away the Murloc suit item again? If so, I would love to get it, such a silly little thing.
i'd like to be owner of the Colossus magnet - i'm a huge fan of Starcraft. also, i would have liked to go to BlizzCon, but the tickets were sold out by the time i had known they were on sale.
me want
Beta key better well be for Diablo 3. 7 years is too long.
Awww... why can't that beta cd key be SC2?
I want the murloc suit. XD
An XL-sized T-shirt? That's very telling, I suppose.
To all those asking for a diablo 3 at this stage, seriously do you know how botched it would be? In my opinion Blizzard ruined it's 'artistic direction' after and including World Of Warcraft 3.
If it takes a few years for them to not regurgitate the same bland textures as they have in their MMO for a game of the calibre of Diablo, then so be it. I don't want to be playing some Warcraft 3 in a different era.
Just look at Starcraft 2...
@madhalifax: "Stay a while, and listen!"
Stay a long, long time.
majority of the diablo dev team left blizzard anyway, hellgate london is their baby and it'll pretty much be diablo 3, but in the future. I'd rather them not make diablo 3 ( blizzard that is ) because it'd ruin the franchise :)
Murloc suit. >_<
wow XL, thought maybe larger... but man you guys are generous! I would never thought of giving anythin away... right away... hehe
what ever contest u make, rig it so I get the murloc suit!!!
(or slip it to me over AIM *wink*)
I can't wait for the expansion and this stuff might help me endure the wait!
I call any murloc related items!
sweet!
offtopic: Should i leave disney and go to Activision?
@Babygames: yes
So much crap!
@legacyed:
WRONG! At the first word of Wrath Of The Lich King I found my self constantly down sizing WoW and Supreme Commander every hour or so in hopes for more tidbits.
Then again I already do that every hour for Kotaku news any way...
I'm so tempted to re-activate the WoW account I cancelled a year ago.
It's the first temptation I've had since I saw BC.
GOTTA BE STRONG!
No baby Murloc pet code? :-(
I wish I could have gone to BlizzCon. They must have had a blast. :_(
I wish they knew what the key was for as well.. I asked a few employees during the show, and they didn't even have a clue. I think Pardo said at one point the key will be for whatever game goes into Beta next. That said, most employees think that will be SC2. Fingers crossed!
One of the Blizzard guys I talked to on Saturday said the beta key was for either both SC2 and WotLK, or that you would get to pick one of them. I'm greedy so I'm hoping for both.
For shame McWhertor, offering an naive Kotakuite a WoW beta key is like offering a borderline alcoholic a lifetime supply of tequila, or a small child a loaded gun. Run that key over, burn it, eat it, poop it and then lock it away in the highest room of Kotaku tower, guarded by whatever mythical beasts you guys keep there.
@TheJordanator: You can do it man, stay on the wagon with the rest of us ex-addicts.
@VagrantWade: I had the same thought, oodles of goodies and not a twinge.
