Oh Best Buy "pros", what misinformation will you dream up next? Here's the answer to the most recently asked question over at their paid for page on Gamespot.
Q: Can the Xbox 360 core system play x-box games? A: Yes; most Xbox games are compatible with the Xbox 360 Core System. Over 90% of the games will work so it should not be a problem.
Say again? Ninety percent of Xbox games? Checking the Xbox 360 backward compatability list reveals 266 supported titles out of, according to Wikipedia, 574 original Xbox games (some of those are PAL only releases). That works out to about 46%. Well, that's close enough, I guess!
Also, about that Core system. According to the Xbox 360 backward compatability FAQ, "Backward compatibility requires the Xbox 360 Hard Drive". That $100 accessory is obviously missing from said Core system. Oh, the confusion! Hopefully, someone at Gamespot will clear this one up for the Best Buy folk.
