This short look at Team Fortress 2's "heavy weapons guy" class just makes the wait for Valve's fall releases of Half-Life 2 Orange Box and Black Box seem that much more distant. Hilarious and gorgeous? Yes! I really hope we get clips of every character in the game.

Haha Team Fortress is looking so awesome. I LOOOOOVED TFC, as with hundreds and thousands and millions of others. Okay maybe not millions, but we love it. ;D
that is so incredibly awesome.
Hopefully M$ OKs the cross platform play, since otherwise it will be like many other Live games: popular for a month or so, and then abandoned by most people other then the hardcore.
But since its included in the Orange Box it will a good value anyway.
Holy shit, I thought they're new facial animation system would be cool, but that looks totally amazing. Light years ahead of the "muppet talking" I see in even the newest next gen titles. Nice work guys.
Maybe they should stop making psuedo rendered animations that are absolutely retarded and finish the F@#$Ing game I was promised earlier.
oh, and add grenades back in, f@#$ing butchers.
Valve does it again, it seems. AWESOME video. That's how to market your game, fingers crossed for videos of the other classes!
Color me impressed.
I wonder if this is why we haven't seen new clips of HL2: Ep2 in a while? I'd be surprised if they're not using their new character tech in there too - can't wait for the Black Box!
This is a shitty resolution. Head to Fileshack.com for a super high res one.
Anyway, I totally agree, the wait is more than impossible with every ounce of information they give out on TF2, HL2: E2 and Portal. I really just cannot contain myself.
Also, has anyone else noticed that every cinematic style video that is released by these folks is pure fucking gold? I have yet to see them do anything wrong. Since Half Life they have just gotten better and better. This game is the only one that really peaks my interest with every little bit of information we get because every so often you get these golden accented, platinum encrusted diamond nuggets, and in between that you get real information, not PR bullshit that's supposed to tide you over.
I salute you Valve! Take as long as you want and then some, because you always have something to show for it.
I was really into Team Fortress Classic, but sadly, STEAM came along and everyone started shifting to CS(wich I hate) and DOD(wich I love), leaving hundreads of empty TFC servers, it was quite sad. There are still people out ther eplaying it, tough, because TF for Quake truly was a revolution of MP Team Based Online gameplay, and it has ever since been copied over and over so many times. TF2 almost became the next "Duke Nukem Forever", so it brought a smile to my face when it was officialy confirmed that would indded be one and packaged with HL Ep2. When I saw the first movie, I also smiled, the character new look captured the insane sort of fun I used to have with my friends on TFC.
Having that said, STEAM has been off my PC for well over an year now... wonder if this will be the reason for it to come back...
v ^_^ Pyro 4 Ever, [DP]Shiryu!
Man I can't wait for this game to come out! I love TFC and this is going to be better!
Omfg best character ever.
He made me smile.
Did he just say "cry some more"??? THAT'S AWESOME!! XD
The character's laughing in the end was priceless.
Best trailer i've seen in months!
"It costs $400,000 to fire this weapon... for 12 seconds."
Hahahahaha! Wow, awesome.
Can“t wait to see prospective trailers from the other classes, if this sets the standard for upcoming TF2-trailers.
That video shows one of the primary things Team Fortress 2 has that will set it apart from most First Person Shooters right now - personality. All the other classes are yearning for their own "interview" clips.
Also, Chris Rock would be proud of that gun.
TFC has got to be one of my all time favorite online shooter! I don't see how I can keep myself from laughing while I play this game. If they can recapture the goodness that was once known to us as TFC, and add an overload of humor like that, we're all in for a good time!
"Oh my god who touched Sasha?!"
holy gibblets of zeus, i want me some (team fortress, not gibblets)
That's great. Finally an FPS that brings some colour and personality to the genre.
Of course, impressive.
I'd love to see this level of facial/animation subtleties and spontaneity incorporated into the actual gameplay, though.
The timing of that clip was just perfect. I lolled deeply.
Well, say what you want about Valve (and make your Steam-vaporware jokes here) but you can't really deny that once it gets done, a Valve product is something to behold.
Best reason to own a 360 yet.
I can only hope my laptop will run it. >_>
Wow. I really really want an EA game. Crazy.
Bravo! Now that's a character.
I love the style of this game.
Yea, but I am still a Fortress Forever fanboy. Still seems more like a Newer version of TFC than this thing.
I hope they do one for the spy. I want to see some of his abilities in action. Cant wait.
Finally! an FPS with some personality and, if the original is anything to go by, the gameplay to back it up.
Now maybe people will stop playing nothing but CSS and Dust.
My hype for TF2 suddenly died after knowing there won't be any conc jumping in it. In fact, no grenades at all? Disappointing.
holy shit! that was first class. youve got to post up the rest of the series theyll almost certainly produce.
cry some more.
There's more style and personality in Team Fortress 2 than in 95% of the FPS games out there combined. It's clearly Pixar influenced and I dearly love Valve that much more for it.
I would love to play a single player game with this exact same style. The vaporware that is Duke Nukem Forever would be awesome in this style.
If this game can't get me to buy a 360, then nothing will. That was brilliant.
K
I think there is a problem with his math along the lines of his 12 second firing cost calculation.
I hope the characters make plenty of on point commentary through out matches. If nobody is talking, then doing all of this is worthless.
That last line was the best.
@Witzbold:
Would you-- heck, anyone want to correct him?
@Witzbold: Perhaps it's a joke. I think his character is supposed to be fairly . Unintelligent.
I absolutely love this clip! Hilarious! Giving a game such personality is a really nice touch and the fact that it was gorgeous is a plus too.
I also really want to see the medic and sniper videos. Their personalities should be just as great.
@Dresarius: I know that. I just found it highly amusing. XD
@Witzbold: I think there's a problem with you if you counted.
And by the way, his math was spot on. $400000 for 12 seconds.
@Witzbold: next time check your math asshole.
just kidding.
LMFAO!! OMG AHAHAH !!!! ROFL !!!!!!!!!!
I only played HW in TFC, and looks like I'll be doing the same in TF2
zomg, awesome vid :D
yah.. that was pretty halarious!
i thought the facial animation was pretty good for the talking as well... at least compared to what i see in lots of games.
This video singlehandedly shows that graphics aren't everything, it's the animation that counts.
I found myself in awe more so at the way his mouth and faced moved, and how his hand cupped and turned the barrels of his gun then anything else shown that's "next-gen."
Holy shit, that looks awesome.
For what I know the characters will speak, scream and taunt using facial animation all over the game.
A nice high rez version of this video appears to be in Steam right now as well.
Looks great. Where was this reception when Celda came out?
I smiled with him.
Hold that choke-point! Mow 'em down! Ha-Ha!
Ah yes indeed the math is spot on. XD
@Reddo: Very true. Games have to be seen in motion to be appreciated. I hated the style of Crackdown until I saw it in motion. Unfortunately, I doubt that screenshots will ever go the way of the dinosaur. They'll probably stick around like apes, instead.
God damned dirty apes.
The new facial animation tech Valve has developed is fucking incredible. I would like to work with it, but unfortunately the Source engine is a real bitch to get assets implemented.
Wow that was the best trailer I've seen in years.
I had no interest in Team Fortress whatsoever, and then I watched this film. DO WANT. I'll be buying this at release.
I love this waaay more than you guys.
@DorkusMalorkus: I agree, Fortress FOrever, seems MUCH better when I checked it out. I am big on the whole FREE aspect of it too. But we will see.
To: The TF Purists.
Re: Get A Life.
That was the funniest thing I have seen in at least a week. I dont care about Conc Jumping. I don't care about steam. I dont even care about the Horde of CS Noobs who will clog up servers for the first few months.
This is going to be fun - period. And the fact it ships with Portal?
Gimme gimme now.....
makes me want to upgrade my dino pc...
Fantastic. Nice to see the sort of look and sense of humor I loved in Evil Genius is making its way into TF2. It's almost a shame to think of the sort of buffoons who will be playing these exquisitely crafted characters when the game comes out.
