Analyst: PS3 Price Drop In 07 May Be Possible

DROPPIN BOMBSJust because the PLAYSTATION 3 has only been on store shelves for a hair over two months doesn't mean we can't start talking price cuts. According to Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian, streamlined production and cheaper components may mean savings for consumers.

We believe it is too early to rule out a PS3 price cut for later this year, which will depend in large part on retail sell-through trends, the evolving competitive landscape, and Sony's willingness to endure further losses on PS3 hardware, offset by potential component cost savings (e.g., shift to 65 nanometer processor).

This excludes the PAL territories, of course. I'm sure they'll be getting gouged for years. More Sony centric analysis, including PSP price cut speculation, at the link below.
