Audi kicked off a little viral marketing campaign with a cool game alternate reality game. On April 5, a sign appeared at the New York Auto Show in place of a red Audi A3 which had been parked in the spot. The sign reads "If you have any information regarding the location of a 2006 Audi A3 VIN WAUZZZ8P65A045963 please contact Audi of America at 1-866-657-3268." Apparently a group of early players of the ARG game went to a car dealership the night before for a party only to find a bunch of police and a missing car.
Then a few days ago a website for Last Resort Retrieval popped up. You can access it by clicking on the login field and choosing a name. Once inside you'll find tons of emails, photos and documents about the stolen car. You'll also find, funny enough, a link to Kotaku. Hmmmm, maybe I should go check my garage.
The plot thickens, one of the key people in the mystery is a game developer named Virgil Tatum. I wonder if there will be some stronger tie in to gaming or a specific video game as this progresses?
